Usrname map and Windows ACLs question
Hola Iv?n, Good that you use MJT repo, but you probably don?t need it, bookworm back ports provides the same version these days. http://samba.bigbird.es/doku.php?id=samba:installing-from-backports https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=samba&suite=bookworm-backports Regarding your member server, may I suggest you check out my notes, based on official samba wiki:

Usrname map and Windows ACLs question
Hi!. I've already read that really useful notebook. Thanks for it. Sadly, I couldn't find any differences. All seems work OK without "username map" but as soon as I map OURDOM\Administrator to root v?a "username map",? I lost "Sessions" and "Open files" in RSAT, so I would like to know if I miss something without that mapping. Does RSAT

Samba 3.0.22: share be r/w for LDAP-authenticated users, r/o for anonymous
Hi there, we need to implement the following scenario: - Samba server 3.0.22 (NOT acting as a domain controller; we don't use Windows networking domains) - users use Linux and Windoze - anonymous users accessing a certain share should be granted read-only access - successfully authenticated users should be given read-write access - authentication should be performed against an LDAP that

updated samba 4.18 & 4.17 packages for debian & ubuntu to address trust issue with windows 10/11 update 07/2023
Replying here as well, since this is a frequent question. I uploaded the updated samba packages to the official debian archives in parallel with updating my repository - exactly the same source packages as are used to build samba for my repository. 4.18 should already be available on sid/unstable, I think. In trixie/testing it will migrate within 5 days if nothing other breaks. Updated bookworm

No, there's no long way to bookworm-backports. I use experimental just because debian

Updating to Samba Version 4.19.5 via Debian Bookworm Backports
Hi After seeing that Bookworm Backports has now got Samba version 4.19.5, I decided to update my samba machines. However, I find that those running on AMD64 architecture, the update doesn't appear. Machines running on arm architectures (armel & arm64) are updated correctly. I haven't changed anything in the /etc/apt/samba.lists file and previous updates have worked fine. Is

Since oldstable-bpo archive in debian is always subject to manual backports-policy processing (all uploads are processed manually), I don't push stuff to oldstable-bpo often. On the other hand, this

rsync parameters errors
In my new bash script, I'm doing what I think is a very simple rsync command the way I'm used to doing it. I just do a lot of setup and checking before I get to it. When I run it, it gets very unhappy with me. It's probably something very simple. I need to build the rsync command in a string so that some things can go away - like if my variables DRY_RUN and DELETE are undefined,
