Problem with "can''t dump anonymous class Class"
I submitted this earlier, but the web forums went down and I''ve screwed up
the thread, so I''m starting over.
I''m trying to built a document upload system. The system has a main
Document model with different subclasses for different types of documents.
With the code below, if I attempt to create a Document, it works fine, but
if I attempt to use one of the subclasses, I

I''m newbie to this tool and following some tutorials I''ve came across

I create my audio application which connects to a database (mysql) named

can''t dump anonymous class Class
I''m trying to create a document upload system, where most of the code is
the super class Document and just the path to file on the system is
controlled by the sub classes. When I attempt to use my code, I get the
following when I try to save the document.

NoMethodError in Unit Test - Rails Newcomer
I''m working on user authentication system to get familiar with rails,

[DEFECT] ''validates_inclusion_of'' not working as expected (couldn''t post to Trac as it gave me an error)
Hello,
I tried to post this as a bug on the trac site, but whenever I hit

Let''s say I have the following model classes:

Conditional validations
I''ve been working with the problem that Joe Hosteny has been talking
about on this list and on the tickets he''s posted
(http://dev.rubyonrails.com/ticket/1196) and have come up with a
tentative solution that I''d like to bring up here.
What if we use a "conditional" parameter in the validates_* methods?
Here''s how it would look like in practice:

issue with the object cache
Hi,
I am getting a method_missing error when I run my application in the
production environment unless I set config.cache_classes = false in
config/environments/production.rb. This happens in Rails 2.2.2 but not
in Rails 2.1.0. The method that is missing is one I used to have
before I edited by hand the migration that creates the table
associated with the object (I know you are discouraged to do

Validation question
Hi all,
Is there a way to invoke validations at times other than save, create
and update? I know that I can do this by writing my own validation
checks using errors.add_[blah], but I''d like to leverage the existing
validation code.
What I have is two sets of fields in a record, set A and set B. Both
sets must be validated on record create. However, the trouble is that

This is probably a Ruby questions but since my issue exists in a Rails
validation I thought I''d post here. I have the following validator

unless value.nil? &&
value.valid?

Tried with || operator, too.

Validate Before Delete
I have an Order model with a ''status'' column. What I want to be able to do
is validate that the status of the Order is not completed before it is
allowed to be deleted. I tried the following method in my Model, but it
appears that this only works for an :update or :create on the record.
Anyone know how to do this, and if it should be in the model or the
controller?

Validation with Aggregation
ActiveRecord supports composed_of for value objects which is
fantastic but one thing that it doesn''t seem to support (or at least
I am unable to find any documentation for) validation of the value
objects.
For example, given the following:
class Message < ActiveRecord::Base
composed_of :sender, :class_name => ''EmailAddress''
composed_of :recipient,
