Yes.
Probably I wasn't clear: I've seen this in different setups at different
customers'.

Actually no, as I don't have *one* smb.conf.
I'll add three of them (the last three were I had this problem) at the
end of this email.
As you can see they are not exactly identical.

I'd say not, but see the smb.confs.

Meaning of user.DOSATTRIB
I have the following attributes for a typical file on my redirected folders
residing on my Samba4 AD/DC:
$ getfattr -d "Newletters/Newsletter 2013-09.docx"
# file: Newletters/Newsletter 2013-09.docx
user.DOSATTRIB=0sMHgyMAAAAwADAAAAEQAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPnD7jBHStABAAAAAAAAAAA=
What do these characters mean? I'm searching for a particular attribute. I have

user.DOSATTRIB defaults to hidden?
Hi all,
Is there a way to control the default DOS attributes stored in the
user.DOSATTRIB value? I'm using a QNAP NAS device (running Samba) that
seems to create files that have the 'hidden' DOS attribute set by the
user.DOSATTRIB value as a default.
The NAS device's smb.conf has the 'store dos attributes' option set to
yes and each of the 'map hidden',

Meaning of user.DOSATTRIB
OK, thanks, I've seen such an attribute correlation list elsewhere. So what does
the 65 character string mean?
user.DOSATTRIB=0sMHgyMAAAAwADAAAAEQAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPnD7jBHStABAAAAAAAAAAA=
Obviously this isn't a bunch of 0x1's and 0x2s bit fields (or are they?).
These attributes are from a file on the Redirected Folders directory hosted on
the Samba4 AD/DC. I

hosting library (ie. PVCS) on Samba
Hello.
I believe that I've done my due diligence in researching what info. is
currently available on this issue.
I have been jacking with this for days, & believe that I have tried all
possible solutions.
I am basically trying to move a [Merant] PVCS installation from an OS/2
file server to a SuSE/Samba file server.
This installation consists of 'standard' source archives,

Strange RODBC problem
I am using RODBC to collect data from an ODBC connection to an MS Access
Database. Everything seems to be working well except datetimes between
March 12, 2006 02:00 and 02:59 get moved one hour forward. This does not
seem to be happening with Excel connecting to the same connection. March 12
seems a bit early for Daylight savings time. What am I doing wrong?

Can not delete files via Samba in some cases
Hi List,
my problem is the following:
I use Samba 3.5 with AD password authentification and uid/gid information in local files. Everything seems to work so far, when i create files via samba the created files have correct user/group information on linux filesystem level (so i think id mapping works basicly).
The only thing that does not work is deleting files which
- belong to other users from

Permission denied for home, even when it's 777
I cannot access home samba share from windows. Windows client displays a
permission denied error. The problem is not Linux permissions for the user
directory, permission is still denied when permissions are to 777. I don't
think the problem is selinux, because no denials appear in any logs. I don't
think it's an extended attributes issue from xfs, because I don't see any
attributes

samba debian & ubuntu builds
Hi!
After providing samba builds for several debian and ubuntu releases for over 1.5 years,
I see this service is quite popular still.
However, I'd love to understand how useful it is still, and which releases should be
provided in the future.
For example, samba 4.16.x series is end-of-life, there has been no updates for it for
quite some time and none planned, either. Yet people do have

Daemon "started" messages
Hello.
I'm gradually replacing my 4.17 installations with 4.19 (on FreeBSD).
As soon as I do this, I'm starting to see gobs of messages in the log
like the followings:
rpcd_lsad[54129]: rpcd_lsad version 4.19.5 started.
samba-dcerpcd[14381]: samba-dcerpcd version 4.19.5 started.
I actually experience no troubles (so far) and there are no error
messages actually, but is this
