BUG: --link-dest may follow symlinks and failure to hard link a non-regular file is fatal
Hi,
following the instructions on https://bugzilla.samba.org/createaccount-save.html, I've applied for a bugzilla account at bugzilla-maintenance at samba.org but didn't receive a reply, so I report through this list.
With --link-dest the search for a candidate to link from, follows symlinks in directory path components, when the path element is a directory in the source tree but a

openssh-3.8.1p1, with pthreads enabled, hung in pthread_join.
I connect to my OpenSSH 3.8.1p1 server and when the password dialog
shoes up I wait a min or so, long enough for the "Timeout before
authentication for %s" alarm to trigger. If at that point I enter my
password ssh will just sit there:

[RFC] Preferentially TOFU certificate authorities rather than host keys
There's currently no way to express trust for an SSH certificate CA other
than by manually adding it to known_hosts. This patch modifies the automatic
key write-out behaviour on user verification to associate the hostname with
the CA rather than the host key, allowing environments making use of
certificates to update (potentially compromised) host keys without needing
to modify client

Possibly Missing Syscalls from Seccomp Filter
Hi!
I'm investigating the seccomp filter in openssh and I wanted to know
whether the following system calls should be added to the filter:
1. getgroups
-
do_authentication2->dispatch_run_fatal->sshpkt_fatal->logdie->cleanup_exit->do_cleanup->temporarily_use_uid->getgroups
2. setgroups

ssh-keyscan continuity patch --
I apologize, this patch should have been sent awhile ago. Between a lot
of things that needed to be completed at work as a sysadmin for the
Research Computing group at Purdue University and retiring from work
after 38 years at the end of May (2012), I basically ignored it. This
patch is from a clone of my workstation that I just activated at home.
The patch was primarily written to fix the

OpenSSH_4.3p2 fails to create a pty session
I am out of ideas about what the problem is. I am using the default
sshd_config installed by the port. I can authenticate, copy files, and
start processes, but sshd fails to create a tty session. This happens
from remote machines and creating a session from the host machine. I
find the following under messages.

Problems with OpenSSH2.9p1 on Linux/Sparc
Let me start this with the disclaimer that I am a Linux lover that only
pretends to
have any clue about coding.
I grabbed the latest version of OpenSSH (v2.9p1) and went to install it
on my Sparc
(RH 6.2, v2.4.2). Unlike OpenSSH 2.5.2p2, however, when I tried to
compile it
I got the following error:
... <compiling away> ...
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -I. -I. -I/usr/local/ssl/include

pam_mkhomedir and priv separation
Hello,
I'm not sure if this has already been addressed, I looked through the
archives and can't seem to find anything. I also did some Usenet
searching and only found one article mentioning this, and it was
in French.
Anyway, the problem is that it appears as though when using privsep
opensshd doesn't execute pam_session as root, and this causes
pam_mkhomedir to fail.

kerberos + gssapi password change
Hello
I am not a developer, but since this is a more advanced issue I rather
post to this list than to the users list, I hope this is OK.
We are currently running openssh with simon's gssapi patch and want to
move towards the new integrated solution with openssh-3.7.1p2. A problem
we experienced in both versions of openssh is that we are not able to
change the kerberos password, when it

OpenSSH public key problem with Solaris 10 and LDAP users?
Hello.
I've got a problem logging in to a Sparc Solaris 10 machine with
public key authentication. I searched, and found a similar problem
report at <http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.openssh.devel/12694>.
For that guy, the problem had to do with LDAP.
My user accounts are also stored in LDAP, an OpenLDAP server, to be
exact. That server runs on the same machine as the machine
