Fwd: Two DNS issues with samba
Thanks for the good explanation. The client is my Windows 10 computer. I should perhaps mention that I use the RSAT tools to manage DNS. What I don't understand is why the DC 01 doesn't have these problems. Is it maybe because it has all FSMO roles and is the PDC? Am So., 23. DNS Administration Strangeness
I'm running Samba 4.0.9 as a domain controller in a Windows 2008 R2 functional level single domain forest with a Windows 2012 domain controller. I am using Bind 9.9.3-P2 as the DNS backend with dlz_bind9_9.so driver. When I add my Samba DC to the DNS Manager snap-in, my main domain.com zone has a red X and I cannot expand it. The _msdcs.domain.com zone seems to be ok. Also, one of my reverse

Fwd: Two DNS issues with samba
Hi, I have two problems with my 2 Samba AD-DC. I don't know if the two problems are related. Both domain controllers show the same error pattern for problem 1.The second problem only occurs with the second domain controller. The domain itself seems to work and be in order. Does someone know where this comes from and how to solve it? ## Issue 1 ## By doing my random log checking, I saw the

Samba panic when accessing DNS domain entry with RSAT DNS tool
I do not know. But after I did it one time from a windos 10 machine with RSAT my whole dns was broken. The only thing could cure that was to open RSAT on my windows 7 admin PC and delete the entries I added on Windows 10 and save the changes. Samba panic when accessing DNS domain entry with RSAT DNS tool
Hi everybody, for some time now I have an issue with our samba/bind9-DLZ setup which became worse lately. I use the RSAT DNS tool to configure DNS records. In the past it sometimes happened, that DNS died when accessing the domain zone. This condition could only be resolved by restarting samba on the affected DC. Unfortunately the situation got worse and configuration/modification of entries

DNS crashing when accessing with MS DNS tool on Samba with BIND9 backend
Hi all, I am currently having some problems managing DNS on our Samba servers with bind9 backend. Whenever I try to access the AD domain zone from the MS DNS tool the DNS part crashes and services need to be restarted. After the crash DNS is not working anymore. I get the following in log.samba: [2019/09/20 09:39:10.681745,? 0]

Samba panic when accessing DNS domain entry with RSAT DNS tool
Hello Daniel, thank you for the fast reply. I am also using Windows 10. I'll setup a temporary Win7 VM to test if this will make any difference. Do you know if this a known issue with RSAT on Windows 10 ? Some strange errors in logs
Hai, cat "/var/lib/samba/private/named.conf" also please. And check if the correct bind9_dlz is enabled. dpkg -l | grep bind9 Jessie, should be 9.9 Stretch should be 9.10 If this server was upgraded then you need to manualy adjust the file above. Looks to my bind9-dlz is enable in smb.conf but not loaded. cat /var/log/daemon.log | grep dlz You should see thing like: samba_dlz:

Samba4/Windows DNS replication and administration issue
Hi all, I am having trouble with DNS replication between a Linux/Samba 4.0.9 box and Windows Server 2012 domain controller, as well as administering the Linux DNS from the Windows DNS Manager snap-in. First a little background. I am trying to integrate a Samba 4.0.9 server as a domain controller in an existing Windows Active Directory domain. The domain and forest are at Windows 2008R2

RPC server is unavailable when using ADUC
Hello. We're running Samba 4.3.9 AD on two Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machines. I'm managing AD users and DNS from Windows 10 joined to the domain, by using ADUC. Last week I noticed the following error when starting ADUC as Administrator of the AD domain: ---- Naming information cannot be located because: The RPC server is unavailable. Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain

DNS crashing when accessing with MS DNS tool on Samba with BIND9 backend
I would suggest, downgrade to a "release" samba version. Check if it happens again.. 4.10.9-GIT-e3f51924971 < 4.10.9 is not released yet. If is also craches with 4.10.8, then submit a bug in bugzilla. (note: > ? Please read the Trouble-Shooting section of the Samba HOWTO ) ;-) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at
