Can PXElinux be used to dynamically pass DHCP option 252 to a PXE client?
All (and hpa in particular),
I know that the question in the subject line of this message may come across as a bit silly, given that PXElinux is not a DHCP server, but hear me out...
Those of you who have been working on PXE-booting Windows PE instances or the new Windows installer images that make use of the Windows Boot Manager and ".wim" files may have come across the general

pxechn.c32 contains BIOS-only code and is not going to work in any EFI
environment.

file.info(path) "inconsistent" with file.exists(path) when path == "C:/"
Hi,
on Windows 7 (tested on NTFS file system) and R-devel:
1. file.info("C:/") gives NAs whilst file.exists("C:/") gives TRUE.
Instead you have to do file.info("C:/.").
2. Any number of dots will do, e.g.
identical(file.info("C:/........."), file.info("C:/.")) == TRUE
DETAILS:
# C:/ => DISCREPANCY file.exists() and file.info()

The following boot entries:
#
COM32 chain.c32
APPEND fs ntldr=/bootmgr

or:

COM32 chain.c32
APPEND hd0,1 ntldr=/bootmgr

might result in the following error:

Insane primary (MBR) partition.
Can't find myself on the drive I booted from.

when using chain.c32 v4.07.
I have seen similar error reports when using chain.c32 v4.06 too.
It works correctly with chain.c32 v4.05, even when

I agree but considering the problem appears when
PXE booting an EFI image requiring the Binding Services
of the NIC well I'm not really sure if they would pay any attention.
BTW the same failing hardware has not problem booting
MS bootmgr.efi but analyzing its code I see

Syslinux + USB + PE 2.0
I am having the darnedest of times trying to get my WinPE to work off
the syslinux loader.
I used to use isolinux, and my isolinux config would just invoke the
etfsboot.com file which
i had renamed to loader.bin, and everything would work just fine off a
cd. But now I'm trying
to transfer all of my cd functionality to thumbdrives.
With Syslinux, i have my syslinux.cfg file calling loader.bin

samba and ntfs flash drives ???
Try this one.
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdX /mnt/usb -o rw
if needed you must install the ntfs-3g package.

Is there some trick to mounting an NTFS USB flash drive and
sharing it with Samba?
I am trying to share an NTFS flash drive with samba.
If the drive is not mounted, I can do what I want
from Windows 7 and XP on the mount point. I have
full access.
But, when I mount the stick to the

[PATCH] chain.c32: add support for booting the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP
The following patch for chain.c32 adds support to boot the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP.
Normally when you want to boot the recovery console, you need to patch "cmdcons\0" into the
bootsectorof the partition (8 bytes starting at 0x3 (4th byte)).
We can do this patching in memory:
strcpy((char *) 0x7c03, "cmdcons");
To boot the recovery console with chain.c32:

[PATCH] chain.c32: add menu support to grub loader
Allow the grub loader to (optionally) support using a GRUB menu file.
For example
chain fs grub=stage2,grub.conf
will load GRUB's stage2 and pass the (absolute) path to the file
"grub.conf" in the Syslinux filesystem to GRUB's stage2. The path is
passed to stage2 in GRUB's device/partition syntax (eg, "(hd0,1)/foo").
Note that we don't check whether the

Here is relative portion of pxelinux:

Two Windows 2k8 Server an booting via pxelinux
Hello list,
I have a question concerning the possibility of booting one of two
Windows systems installed on two partitions.
In case with one Windows system and one Linux system, I can chainload
grub or windows loader, and this is OK.
But in case with two Windows systems, when I installed second system,
the installer added multi boot loader(I think it's called bootmgr),
and then I can't

HP Probook 6570b - Unable to locate configuration file
Hi,
We currently use pxelinux and tftp-hpa for pxe booting new machines and
installing our OS of choice. This has worked great for the past year, and
just about every HP laptop we've tried so far has worked flawlessy, until
now...?
We recently bought a bunch of HP ProBook 6570b laptops but couldn't get them
to work with our pxelinux setup. What we see is that the 6570b stops at
