Create page about rebuilding SRPMS and preparing RPM environment
Hello, As discussed on the centos-users list, I would like to create some pages on the CentOS Wiki with instructions on how to set up your environment to build RPMs and how to rebuild RPMs. This content today exists here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source#head-a8dae925eec15786df9f6f8c918eff16bf67be0d I would suggest creating these two: 1)

GSoC19: Debug Info should have no effect on codegen
Dear all, My name is Mohamed and I am a first year computer science masters student. I am writing this email because I am interested in the project idea "Debug Info Should have no effect on codegen". So far I have built llvm and clang and I was trying to reproduce the problem on simple c++ programs but I can't. Being specific this are the steps I am doing: $ clang -g test.cc > $

Request for additional patch in CentOS Plus kernel
Hi, I have an Adaptec eSATA card, model 1225SA: http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/Controllers/Hardware/sata/entry/AAR-1225SA/ Although the chipset is sata_sil24, it is not recognized by default by the kernel because its PCI ID is different than the ones recognized by this driver on the CentOS kernel. The driver recognizes PCI IDs such as 0x3132, 0x0242, 0x3131, but not 0x0244, which is the

Hi all, Has anyone tried to rebuild bacula from the source RPM provided on Karanbir's CentOS yum repo? Every time I give it a go, I'm given this error during the configure stage: checking host system type... configure: error: can not guess host type; you must specify one make[1]: Entering directory `/home/rpmbuilder/rpmbuild/BUILD/depkgs/mtx-1.2.17kes' make[1]: *** No targets

Devtools 0.7
# devtools The aim of `devtools` is to make your life as a package developer easier by providing R functions that simplify many common tasks. Devtools is opinionated about how to do package development, and requires that you use `roxygen2` for documentation and `testthat` for testing. wiki HowTos/Custom_Kernel needs amendment
Hi, I see more and more people attempt to rebuild the CentOS 5 kernel - for example to get the legacy ISA card support turned on, etc. As Jim said on #centos-devel, the Custom_Kernel wiki page is valid for C4 but not so for C5. It seems that he does not have the time to update the page at this moment. I suggest that at least a warning message stating the instructions are not for C5 kernels

[FYI] skype-2.0.0.72.nosrc.rpm
Greetings! I have been using statically linked skype for a while, but found it uncofortable to install it in contraversion of rpm db, so I decided to package it. You can get nosrc.rpm here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4043330/skype-2.0.0.72-1.nosrc.rpm You can rebuild it in usual way, like that: Install rpmbuild (if it's not installed yet): sudo yum install rpmbuild As an ordinary user, not

rpmbuild question.
I am attempting to build from a src.rpm (knowing very little about rpm at all) and the spec file notes that the architecture should be set on the command line: > # platform defines - set one below or define the build_xxx on the command line Now. My question is this, how does one do this using rpmbuild? The syntax rpmbuild --target centos4 package.src.rpm seemingly has no effect.

Hi, Relating to my emails before (SAMBA & SOLIDWORS : cat & dog?) now I've been trying to update my samba-3.0.10 to samba-3.0.32 .
