IPMI serial console
Hi all, A recent thread inspired me to try getting a proper serial console working on a Supermicro X9SCL motherboard with IPMI. However I find that while I see loader messages and the getty I enabled after boot I don't get any kernel messages which does somewhat limit the utility.. The BMC creates COM3 (/dev/cuau2) which works with getty. I modified /boot/loader.conf like so..

link_elf: symbol cam_simq_alloc undefined
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade from 5-stable to 6-stable; after rebooting to the new kernel, the amr(4) module (amr.ko) refuses to load with this message: link_elf: symbol cam_simq_alloc undefined However, a quick nm(1) on /boot/kernel/cam.ko does show: ... 0000f0ac T cam_sim_set_path 0000efc4 T cam_simq_alloc 0000efd4 T cam_simq_free ... and cam.ko is already loaded before amr.ko.

kldload uhci lockup
I observed that following could cause machine lockup since at least 8-CURRENT. Now I'm on 9-STABLE No usb in kernel, attached mouse pointer. # kldload usb ums ehci # kldload uhci or # kldload uhci usb ums ehci uhci is required for working mouse. Can anyone confirm? Please test few different iterations, as it's probably not easily reproducible. Most times nothing happens, if

zpool labelclear destroys GPT data
When i use zpool labelclear, it wipes the whole disk including gpt data. So the whole disk is empty and i need to create the gpt partitions again. Is this supposed to work like this? The man page suggests that it only wipes the ZFS metadata. zpool labelclear [-f] device Removes ZFS label information from the specified device. The device must not be part of an active pool

Why -pie option force LLD to output shared obj file type, not executable?
Hello Rui, I'm enabling the LLD in the Uefi firmware edk2 build. I meet a problem about the -pie option and cannot output the executable type obj file correctly. I need your advice. The Uefi firmware executable binary is the position independent + small code mode in 64bits. So we always add the options "-Wl,-pie -mcmodel=small" in our clang build toolchain. These options work well

Multicast panic caused by elasticsearch
Hi, I was experimenting with Logstash + elasticsearch on FreeBSD 9 - initially I downloaded it by hand (I forgot to check for a port) and it worked fine. I then tried the port and this forced me to use a different java version (was jdk-16.0.3p4_25 now openjdk6-b27) and it seems that the new one causes a panic. Unfortunately crashdumps aren't working properly, however I did get the panic

[stable 9] panic on reboot: ipmi_wd_event()

[DWARF] Handling empty ranges/location lists in ET_REL files
Hi all, I've put this email in a different thread, although it is quite similar to some of the threads on tombstoning etc, with similar underlying structural issues. Whilst prototyping my fragmented DWARF idea for GC-ing DWARF sections properly, I ran into an object in the game code I was using as my input where a v4 .debug_loc section had a location description that looked something like

Does ActiveRecord have support for "Boolean" columns?
Hey all -- I''ve been using enumerable char(1)''s with ''y'' and ''n'' values for my Boolean columns in Rails, but it strikes me there should be a better way. How do you setup columns that represent true/false-ness in your schemas on Rails? Wondering what kind of standard approaches there are other than me writing something like class MyEntity
