Syntax highlighting in IRB || Script/Console
Railers,
I would like to know if there is a way of changing colors for IRB standard
input ($stdin). What I am interested in "is having IRB highlighting syntax
as I type". Among other stuff, I would like to be able to:
- set its background colours
- have differing colours for strings, variables, keywords, e.t.c.
I do use Wirble and Term-ansicolor gems, and they are fine when it

script/console cursor goes crazy sometimes on XP
I''m on WinXP SP2, Ruby 1.8.4, Rails 1.1.2.
Sometimes when I''m editing a line in script/console - that is, I''m using
the cursor keys or backspace key to edit the text on the current line -
the cursor suddenly flies off to the previous line out in space
somewhere, and typing anything after that just results in characters
being entered at weird places.

Mongrel Console 0.1 -- script/console meets mongrel
This is a super quick announcement for a new Mongrel plugin called
mongrel_console. It was inspired by a request from Tobias L?tke who wanted
to tail out logs while Mongrel was running.
What mongrel_console does is combine the Rails script/console with Mongrel
so that you can control a mongrel server while using script/console. Sounds
weird but it''s quite awesome for development

Memcached: "no such file to load -- memcache-client" when running script/console
Hi folks. I''ve started down the memcached path and everything was
running grand until I decided to start up my console. I have manually
installed libevent 1.4.13 and memcached 1.4.4 into /usr/local,
following which I sudo gem installed memcache-client and SystemTimer.
development.rb has been modified to do caching with the
mem_cache_store.
The memcached process seems to work and my

Syntax coloring in R console
Dear all,
I am a happy user of R console, but I would like to see syntax
coloring. I use R 2.12 in Ubuntu Linux.
I have found the packages "xterm256" and "highlight", but I was not
able to figure out how to use it to highlight the syntax in console
output.
Also, I tried several GUI interfaces, but I was not able to find
something that suits me better than the default R

Bus error in ./script/console with postgres (ext. library)
Is there some special magic that needs to be performed so that the
C-based postgres extension library works with the Rails console?
I have installed the postgres extension library (replacing the pure Ruby
version: postgres-pr) from <http://ruby.scripting.ca/postgres/>
Everything works great from WEBrick, but as soon as I fire up the
console and try to use it, I get a bus error:

NetBeans 6.0/Script Console Window
Has anyone figured out how to turn NetBeans IRB window into Ruby on
Rails script/console window where the gems like ActiveRecord, ActionPack
etc are recognized? May be an easy one for the Rails Guru''s out there,
not for me. By default, the NetBeans IRB window only loads Ruby. I am
trying to see how well NetBeans 6.0''s Ruby/RoR support works fully
realizing that it is an alpha

ANNOUNCE: Hirb - A gem enhancing your script/console
Hi,
I''m announcing Hirb, a mini view framework which enables script/
console to provide custom views.
Out of the box your activerecord objects come back as ascii tables.
You can also configure your tree-based models to return as ascii
trees:
Numeric

|-- Integer
| |-- Bignum
| `-- Fixnum
|-- Date::Infinity
`-- Rational

script/console and IRB readline failure
Long input lines are confusing the readline on my script/console and irb sessions. I hit
back-arrow and suddenly the cursor goes up to the next line. Thereafter the previous-line
fails to work, giving me just an ampersand (&) instead of the previous line to re-edit.
WinXP SP2.

script/console custom prompt
Hi,
I''m not able to use a custom prompt with script/console. I can''t seem to
change the prompt once I''m inside irb. I can only change by passing in
the --prompt arg to irb. However, it seems script/console has the simple
prompt hardcoded in the script. I hacked the script a little and it
seems to work, but I''m sure there is a more elegant way to do it.

Can''t run script/console on OS X
Hi there,
I just insalled RoR on a OS X 10.4.2. Everyting works great so far,
except I cannot run script/console, which is used in most tutorial I
come across.
I installed RoR using Locomotive, but it never really worked, so I did
a manual install of RoR afterwards. Could this cause conflicts in
betweend libs my environment?
Here is the stack trace:
