Resources and pretty URLS
Using the brand-spanking new map.resources for REST goodness, is there a
way to pass in additional parameters, or do I have to go back to
standard routes. For example, is there a way to use the map.resources
to response to urls like:
/blog/2005/02/03/ => :controller => :blog, :action => :show, :year =>
2005, :month => ''02'', :day => ''03''

svn externals and Edge Rails
Hi all:
I am considering using edge rails so I can use join tables. I want to
use svn:externals to manage edge rails, however I want to understand
it more before I go and set everything up. so everytime I commit my
app it will pull the most recent version of rails from the svn
repository, right? What if the current version of rails is unstable,
is there a way to rollback edgerails and NOT my app?

Resolving computeraccount$
Hi list!
Many questions are asked and answered about resolving user accounts. But
does winbind resolve computer accounts?
To elaborate some: it is perfectly all right to add computer accounts to
access groups and use them in ACLs on a share or folder. For instance
you would like a startup script to run on a client computer before a
user logs on. Or perhaps you would like a server (account)

Rails without a primary key
I''ve been trying to use Rails on a database where the biggest
datawarehouse-style table doesn''t have a primary key. It really
doesn''t make sense and just adds extra unnecessary space. I do have,
however, a column that I normally use to search on (IP) that returns
many rows. The table also references several other tables through
rails-friendly foreign keys.

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi,
I was wondering if someone had any thoughts as to why "preexec" doesn't fire when "msdfs proxy" is used?
Thank you,

the case of building R snapshot without svn nor network connection.
The decision to actively discourage non-subsersion usage of snapshot build is already made (r62183). So I am just here to register a differing opinion.
- it is not about subversion vs other-version-control-tools. There are two parts of R's dev build process which requires an active network connection - tools/rsync-recommended and capturing `svn info` into R's headers. The former can be

Ferret on Apache Installation
Hi,
had my local linux box setup and ferret was working like a champ via
Webrick.
However, when I moved to a different linux box using Apache web server,
search no worky..giving the error listed below. The site itself comes up
fine.
I''ve tried deleting all the dirs under /index and restarted the
webserver to see if re-indexing would help, but that made matters worse.

Wine and Windows 2000
I had the latest wine running under winblows 98 SE for a week or two with no
problems, then I installed winblows 2000 and now I cannot get wine to work.
It is important for me to get it running again since I run United Devices
cancer research agent (http://members.ud.com) 24/7 to help them find a cure
for cancer. Is wine compatible with Win2k, or will I need to re-install 98
again?

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi,
Thank you for you input!
We tried that already. That, however, doesn't do the same thing. It is then simply a DFS server and not the "magical" msdfs proxy - yes the user can now click on a link to get to the desired spot, but the proxy function _automagically_ sends the user, when they access the msdfs share, to the netapp's readonly share without the extra click. And it

Edge Rails required for ActiveResource
Just wanted to make sure I''m not missing anything here... I''m trying
to use ActiveResource and I was trying to avoid using Edge Rails.
However, since ActiveResource depends on the edge version of
activesupport, I appear to be stuck going edge... have flailed around
for a while trying to get ActiveResource to work with 1.2.3 but it
just ain''t happening. Am I right? Gotta

rake doc:rails fails with edge rails
Hi,
I''m sure I''m doing something stupid, but I can''t figure this one out. I
want the edge rails docs (I''m using svn:externals for vendor/rails to
get edge rails). Running ruby 1.8.4, and edge rails. Tried on linux
and OS X.
''rake doc:app'' and ''rake doc:plugins'' works fine, but when I run ''rake

Having problems with edge rails
I just switched to Edge Rails (revision 5207) since I want to use the
BigDecimal support for an e-commerce website.. Unfortunately, some of
my old code seems to be breaking things..
First off, it looks like my "skip_before_filter :check_authentication,
:check_authorization, :only => [:login, :forgot_password]" doesn''t
work at all, since the before_filter gets executed for

Changing to edge rails
Hi, I''m developing an application and used rails 1.1.4 o generate the
structure,
some models, scaffoldings and so. How it is in an early stage I''ve
decided to
use edge rails instead of stable release.
Well, I''ve checked-out edge rails in a directory and made a symbolic
link within
vendor/rails dir of my application. Is it enough to use edge rails or do

Edge Rails and Not Working So Consistently
I just started using edge rails and I wanted to know if it was just
me or others are having the same problem.
With edge rails I am getting a lot of uninitialized constat [Model
Name] -> where Model Name changes depending on which model I am
accessing. If I hit refresh it sometimes works but not often. Do I
have to make a change when I use edge rails?
