Hardware monitoring for Intel Atom D945GCLF.
Hi, Is there a way to make use of hardware monitoring on Intel 945GCLF (with Atom 230 cpu)? It is relatively new child of Intel, but maybe someone figured it out yet. pciconf -lv shows this: ichsmb0@pci0:0:31:3: class=0x0c0500 card=0x464c8086 chip=0x27da8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus

fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi, Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed. I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time. I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast transmission I saw back in April. I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and useful network chip. I am running

Supermicro PDSMI failed to boot on fresh RELENG_7/amd64
Colleagues, 3 of 4 times this machine failed to boot, panicing somewhere in late kernel initialization phase (before /sbin/init is executed) I have serial console and KDB enabled, so can do experiments. Last two crashes: Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode fault virtual address = 0x8 fault code = supervisor read data, page not present instruction pointer =

recommended setup for amd64 7-STABLE with ZFS, Samba 3.2 and possibly ACLs?
Hi, could anyone give recommendations (or share experience) regarding using ZFS: - FreeBSD 7-Stable (amd64 with 8GB RAM) + special tuning necessary (apart from increasing kernel memory to 1 or more GB for ZFS) - Samba 3.2 + ACLs possible directly under ZFS? + recommended compile options? - NFS - email (imap) - jails (I have seen some problems exist with using snaphots within

Suspend/resume on IBM X31
Greetings I am having trouble with suspend/resume on my Thinkpad X31, running 7.0-STABLE as of April 23. Any help would be appreciated. First problem: When I run "acpiconf -s3" from mulituser mode, the system suspends immediately, without executing /etc/rc.suspend (which has mode 755); then on resume, I get a panic. Second problem: When the system panics, I don't get a dump (or

nfe driver 6.2 stable
Hi I installed the following driver. http://www.f.csce.kyushu-u.ac.jp/~shigeaki//software/freebsd-nfe.html Before I had the nve driver which was unstable on this server and on a prior server in both cases causing either spontaneous reboot or just a crash when under load. So far touchwood the nfe driver has stayed up and running at almost 3 days uptime and has had some stress. I know the driver

kernel panic on em0/taskq
Hello, i'm experiencing periodic kernel panics on a server with FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #0: Tue May 20 19:09:43 CEST 2008. My big problem is that the system is not performing memory dumping and/or automatic reoboot, it just stays there. Here' console output: em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting kernel trap 12 with interrupts disabled Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode cpuid = 0;

Intel ICH7 SMBus support, ichsmb(4)
Hi there, I have been looking at a system which has the Intel ICH7 south bridge. Whenever I try to probe the SMBus on this system with 'smbmsg -p', I get a lot of status=41 timeout messages in dmesg from the ichsmb(4) driver. I have been given the addresses of the SMBus peripherals and have tried initiating reads to their register space directly using 'smbmsg', with the same

dvd dma problems
I have a couple of DVD drives (one drive, one burner) that used to play DVDs quite fine from 5.3 to somewhere in the 6.x branch. Nowadays I have to send them to PIO4 to play DVDs, because they'll just throw DMA not aligned errors around in UDMA33 or WDMA2 mode. Should someone be interested in this I'm willing to supply all necessary information, such as the exact drives, firmware

named.conf: query-source address
Hi! I fully understand and second efforts on educating people how to configure BIND to be stong to attacks and keep them from using "query-source address" with "port" option but how about binding named to particular IP address when host has many of them? Using "query-source address" without "port" is the only solution (not speaking of jails here) and safe

bin/121684: : dump(8) frequently hangs
Any progress here? Does anyone know if this will be fixed in 7.1 latest, or should we start looking for different backup solution (in this case I would suggest to remove dump from the source tree - having a backup tool that doesn't work is worse than having none). After upgrading we basically cannot backup our servers. Shouldn't this issue be on

Ok, so I ran fsck manually (even with -y), but yet it refuses to clear/fix whatever to the questions posed as fsck runs. What does this all mean? Blacklisted ACPI Prevents Boot
I just installed a 6.4-PRERELEASE kernel and tried to boot. The boot failed with a message that my ACPI was blacklisted. I have had 'device acpi' in my kernel for some time now. The boot interruption is new behavior. Is this sort of change a good thing to put in UPDATING? Regards, Jason

Short SMART check causes disk op timeouts
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hi, I have recently bought a new disk (Seagate 500G, ST3500320NS). I have enabled SMART checking using the smartmontools as usual for the disk (/dev/ad6 -a -S on -s (S/../.././03|L/../../7/03) -m root). The problem is that each time the test runs I get messages like the following in /var/log/messages: Oct 26 04:54:15 35 kernel: ad6: TIMEOUT -

MCP55 SATA data corruption in FreeBSD 7
I am having problems with silent data corruption on (some) drives connected to an MCP55 SATA controller. I have two servers, both running RELENG_7_0/amd64. One has the 570 Ultra chipset, the other has 570 SLI. Both chipsets have the MCP55 SATA controller. The server with 570 Ultra chipset has a bunch of older 250GB SATA-150 drives hooked up to the MCP55 controller and it is working just fine.
