ATA driver not as good in 4.8 as 4.5?
I have a Lite-On 24102B burner on an Epox 7KXA (VIA 686A southbridge)
together with a few SCSI disks. I recently upgraded from FreeBSD 4.5
to 4.7 then almost immediately to 4.8. I've had trouble with the burner
since.
With FreeBSD 4.5, I used "sysctl hw.atamodes=---,---,dma,---" to set
the burner to DMA. Everything then worked fine. As far as I know it
was using UDMA33.

I've included all posts till now.
Can I ask anyone with older proliant multi-cpu hardware using the smart2
controllers to get in touch with me? I am curious to know if this works for
anyone...

CTM, delta from 2.0-RELEASE available
I have made a delta from the 2.0-RELEASE srcdist available in
ftp://freefall.cdrom.com/pub/CTM/src-cur/src-cur.0372R20.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 phk wheel 4034596 Feb 27 15:37 src-cur.0372R20.gz
If you already have the 2.0-RELEASE (either on CDROM or downloaded) you
can use this to get in sync with CTM src-cur.

I'm (as always) short of time, and GBDE is not the top priority
for me for the time being.
So I am more than happy to see people band together and improve
gbde.
The main work necessary is to polish the userland program and that

I am new to R.
My goal is to make a crosstable from a Apache access.log, which I want
to load into PostgreSQL database at first to

Menu in queue
I'm wondering how I can let the caller choose to leave a voicemail
message or continue to wait.
Of course I can leave the queue and let the caller go back to the queue
is he/she decides
to stay waiting. But then they are new in queue again.
How can I make such a menu where the caller keep their number in queue ?
Thanks, Poul

Crazy "interrupt storm detected" on atapic0
Hi all,
I have had this problem since day 1 on my new server.
It has run since November 15th 2008, and serve approx. 10 GB worth of web
traffic per month for the main site and then some 40 domains with mail and
small web pages. (hence - it's NOT that busy yet)
I started with 7.1-RELEASE-pX since I didn't have problems straight off -
but it didn't last long.
After a few days of

ATA refusing additional disks
Hi,
The other day I tried to upgrade my firewall by adding another disk.
However, no matter what I've tried I haven't been able to resolve this
problem. If I try to mount, fsck or disklabel the disk the process will
simply halt with no output and will do nothing. ^C also fails to
operate, as well as kill -9 (meaning the drive gets locked and I have to
reboot to try again).

I have a DB server running ext3 under fairly extreme load. The
system is a Dell 2550 (Dual P-III 1Ghz with a gig of RAM) running RedHat 7.2

just got bit:
