cairo and rapache [was: Weird errors on MAC OS X Leopard when using Cairo/GDD through Rserve]
Charles, Greg, the problem is that Apple's FreeType on Leopard uses CF calls (albeit just to get files), so it breaks on fork. (The message is moot, because the whole point of using fork is to *not* use exec). In any case the solution is to compile your own version of freetype, fontconfig and cairo without any CF or Carbon API. Fortunately most recent versions of FreeType will do so

[LLVMdev] building dragonegg (LLVM 2.7) on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.3)
Hello all, With some help from Duncan through IRC, I just succeeded in building the dragonegg GCC plugin on Snow Leopard. I first installed LLVM 2.7, and I'm using the dragonegg-2.7 release available on the LLVM website [1] in combination with the 4.5.0 release of GCC. Below is an outline of the steps required to get it to work, which is hopefully of use to others. *) Build GCC-4.5.0 Next

how to run my R code in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Hi, I have a question in running R 2.4.1 in the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. I write all my R code without using any packages in R. When I run it in Windows system, it runs smoothly and correctly. Then I try to run the same code in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. I just copy the script file on the desktop of the Mac OS X. I find I can open the file directly as a text file. To run R in Mac OS X, I type

Installing R on Mac OS X Leopard
Hi there, I've used R before, but I just got a new computer with Leopard and I'm having trouble installing. I download the installer, but when I reach the end of the install process, the "install" button remains gray and unclickable. I've tried both standard and custom, as well as installing on my flash disk, to no avail. Any suggestions? I'd rather not build from

[LLVMdev] Use of LLVM in Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Several folks have been asking about how LLVM is used in Snow Leopard. Now that it has shipped, I updated the Users page here: http://llvm.org/Users.html#Apple One of the major new features of Xcode 3.2 is the integrated static analyzer. Ted will update http://clang-analyzer.llvm.org/ with more details when he has time. -Chris

Need help setting up app with Mac OS X Leopard
I have d/l Wine and would like to prepare a Windows app to run on Leopard. Any tips for a complete newbie? Nothing seems to happen when I run Wine, other than the little half-full (or is it half-empty?) glass on the menu bar. Many thanks! Alex Zachopoulos. R on OS X Leopard?
Hi, I've been using R on my OS X machine this school year, and have been really enjoying it. I recently formatted my machine and installed OS X Leopard. When I try to install the OS X R package on Leopard, R's installer tells me I have the wrong version of R for my version of OS X. I downloaded the most recent version, and looked for a Leopard-specific one, but haven't found one.

Problem with text entry fields (Mac OS X Snow leopard)
I use Wine for the windows programs I created with Clarion (Topspeed) environment. No printers visible on Mac OS X Snow Leopard
I am a wine newbie so forgive me if this was already answered, but my Google foo is not good enough to solve the problem. I just installed wine version 1.2.2 on Mac OS 10.6.6 using Macports. I also installed gdiplus using winetricks. I am not able to see any of my Mac printers on Notepad's Print Dialog. The only printer visible is "Microsoft XPS Document Writer". I have tried to

"Serious Error" with Mac OS X Leopard
I've successfully downloaded and run a number of simple Windows programs using Wine. But I've had no success with any programs that require an installer. The installation process seems to work properly, but then when I try to run the app, I get Code: The program <programname.exe> has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
