sio => uart: one port is gone
This is a fairly standard and old machine with 2 COM ports.
Recently (last Friday) I decided to update my RELENG_7 system and also
to transition from sio to uart.
This what I had before the upgrade:

0x10 on acpi0
kernel: sio0: type 16550A

Panic in nfs/ffs after upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3-RELEASE
Hello,
This file server was upgraded from 6.2-RELEASE-p$something to
6.3-RELEASE-p3 (current RELENG_6_3 sources via csup) on August, 11 and
rebooted to the new kernel on August, 12. The school is closed due to
holidays. The only load is mail delivery to Maildirs via NFS from
another server (just 50 mailboxes or so, none of them very busy) and
nightly backups. I went there on August, 13 to perform

[UART] GPS 18-5Hz LVC and COM1 silence, OK on Linux though...
Hi,
I'm having issues connecting Garmin GPS 18 to COM1 on 9.1, I get
nothing but silence. Identical setup works absolutely fine with Linux.
I've got PPS wire connected to DCD, but that seems to make no
difference on Linux, so I presume it shouldn't affect fbsd either.
On Linux, I get:

System hanging in acpi during shutdown
This morning, I upgraded my main system to an up-to-date -STABLE
including acpi and it now hangs during shutdown after reporting:
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `vnlru' to stop...stopped
If I set hw.acpi.disable_on_poweroff=0 then the shutdown completes but
poweroff fails with (hand copied):

interacing with UART
Hi
I would like SYSLINUX to get input from UART and act accordingly.
For example, I want to choose what rootfs to load according to the sequence received from UART.
So I'd like to know if SYSLINUX a the infrastructure for doing this and if it maybe some reference for it.
Thanks a lot,
Tal

interacting with UART
Hi Geert
Thanks for your help.
What I'm planning to do is to write COM32 image that will open UART channel and wait for input (until timeout arrives).
In case input arrives, it will parse and validate it and act accordingly.
My solution doesn't involve user interaction.
I've searched the page you've sent me and it talks about serial console and I'm not sure I can use it for

PCI serial card works on 6.2 but not on 6.3
We have upgraded a box from 6.2 to 6.3-RELEASE. Afterwards the box does not
recognize its ST Lab I-160 serial card with Netmos 9845 Chipset. It worked
flawlessly on 6.2 with puc(4) driver.

Crazy "interrupt storm detected" on atapic0
Hi all,
I have had this problem since day 1 on my new server.
It has run since November 15th 2008, and serve approx. 10 GB worth of web
traffic per month for the main site and then some 40 domains with mail and
small web pages. (hence - it's NOT that busy yet)
I started with 7.1-RELEASE-pX since I didn't have problems straight off -
but it didn't last long.
After a few days of

tonight getting my server setup to allow my to break into the debugger

But, although I *think* I've got it all, I'm obviously missing something,
as it isn't breaking ...

mongrel_cluster to try out the new --clean option. However, after
installing, when I give a simple "mongrel_rails" command, the
cluster::status command is not listed. The error I receive when I do
try and run the full "mongrel_rails cluster::status" is...

GPO Create error
I have a domain that I upgraded from a Samba 3/LDAP set up about a year
ago. I haven't done anything too interesting with it and it's generally
been working OK.
I attempted to create a new GPO for my domain. From a Win 7 client I get an
error "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object".
Thinking this was an issue with sysvol acls, I ran "samba-tool
