Hello, while reading/writing dvd on 6-STABLE (can't remember on 7-STABLE right now), I'm getting the message buffer filled by errors. This is my dvd-rw $ sysctl dev.acd.0.%desc dev.acd.0.%desc: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109/1.58 attached to $ sysctl dev.atapci.1.%desc dev.atapci.1.%desc: VIA 8237A UDMA133 controller And the followings are some examples of the error:

cd0/1a device became invalid between Sep 2 and Oct 1
Hi, just noticed that I can't mount anything anymore on the cd[01]a devices anymore. The cd[01]c devices work correctly, as does the acd[01]a device. These are an ATAPI dvd writer (cd0) and a dvd player(cd1) trough cam(4). This applies to both dvd and cd media. Remaking the device through MAKEDEV has no influence. Nothing reported by dmesg. root@ghost ~ # mount_cd9660 /dev/cd1a /mnt

Finding which GEOM provider is generating errors in a graid3
I have a FreeBSD 6.2-based server running a 1.2TB graid3 volume, which consists of 5x 320gb SATA hard drives. I've been getting errors in /var/log/messages from the graid3 volume, which I suspect means an underlying fault with one of the disks, but is there any way to decipher which one of these drives is throwing errors? I've checked smartctl -a /dev/adXX but nothing shows up there..

Re: FreeBSD PVHVM call for testing

I did not have a console attached when it rebooted, so I did not have a log of the initial boot. Now that I did, I see that it fails to mount its root volume. It had been running previously on pvhvm_v10 for about

repeatable crash on RELENG7
While trying to speed up nanobsd builds, I mounted /usr/obj on a ramdisk and found my box crashing. Thinking it might be hardware, I tried a separate machine, but with the same results. I have 4G of ram (i386). Am I just running out of some kernel memory ? If so, is there anything I can adjust to prevent this, yet still use mfs in this way ? mdconfig -a -t malloc -s 1800M newfs /dev/md0

AC-97 problem between RELENG_4_8 and RELENG_4
Sorry if this is a known problem... I've been tracking RELENG_4 on my Toshiba laptop for a while now; a couple of months ago (not sure when) my sound stopped working. More specifically, when it gets to the pcm probe, the boot hangs. I dual-boot with WinXP and figured that somehow XP had hosed the hardware, so I wrote it off. Today, I made world with RELENG_4_8, and voila, my sound's

Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony laptop ? Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK. If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound. But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright. (same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0) And the output

g_vfs_done with offset greater than disk size
I've been trying to get a problem fixed with a Highpoint 1820a crashing out with errors like: kernel: IAL: COMPLETION ERROR, adapter 0, channel 2, flags=104 kernel: ATA regs: error 10, sector count 20, LBA low ff, LBA mid ff, LBA high ff, device 4f, status 51 which results in the disk being dropped from the array. 5.1-R-p2 crashes on SMP with AMI RAID and Intel 1000/Pro
Dear Sirs. It seems to me a never ending story. We run a box with a TYAN Thunder 2500 Dual SMP mainboard, 2GB ECC Tyan certified memory, AMI Enterprise 1600 RAID adapter and additional Intel 1000/Pro server type (64 bit) GBit LAN NIC. With FreeBSD 4.8 this was stable, but to achive this state was really hard! It is a story similar to that what happend when we changed towards FreeBSD

crash on 7.2-RC1 when inserting an empty DVD: supervisor write, page not present
Hi there, from time to time my PC panics when I insert an empty DVD or CD-R. The kernel locks up instantly after the DVD writer's tray is closed. It seems burning the first DVD isn't critical but inserting the second one seems susceptible. I use k3b as software, which polls the hardware while the tray is open, maybe it's something with hald. Don't know, just use this. I

Orinoco 802.11b PC Card doesn't work on STABLE
Hi, I have Orinoco 802.11b PC Card from Proxim. I plugged it to pcmcia slot, but It doesn't work - no blinking LEDs, no wi0 in ifconfig. I have 7.1-PRERELEASE, laptop Prestigio Nobile 157. On NetBSD seems working, but NetBSD is not friendly with me. if_wi driver included in kernel. ----- dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project. 4.9 RC1 (i386) mplayer induced panic
All: I cvsup'ed earlier this evening and am still able to reproduce this panic at will. Command line, panic backtrace, dmesg, ldd output, and mplayer version follow. If more information is needed, just let me know. % mplayer foo.mov [a quicktime file] [plays for awhile, and then panics] # gdb -k -s /usr/obj/usr/src/sys/LICHEN/kernel.debug -e /var/crash/kernel.2 -c /var/crash/vmcore.2
