hastctl hang
Hello,
I'm trying to integrate HAST to NAS4Free (FreeBSD 9.1-RC3).
Now I have created version 9.1.0.1.531.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4free/files/NAS4Free-9.1.0.1/9.1.0.1.531/
Basic CARP + HAST + iSCSI target setup can be done, but very frequently I
get hastctl hang when called:
/sbin/hastctl status
/sbin/hastctl dump
Is it better for this method not to call from a script?

Install config: lighttpd dead but pid file exists
I''m trying to run rails on RHED (centos 4) by following this tutorial:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/RailsOnRHEL
and something is gone a bit astray during the install process that is
not allowing lighttpd \ apache to run rails on the web.
Since i''m running Centos, I should mention I''m NOT running SELinux.
As it is, i''m at a total loss as to why

POP3 error
Hi,
Since we upgraded to 2.0.9 (from 1.10 stock CentOS release), we are getting some errors with pop3. When the machines get busy, now and then it start with the following:
> Mar 7 11:19:51 xxx dovecot: pop3-login: Error: net_connect_unix(pop3) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
And it generates hundreds of those before the machines dies, with the web server getting stuck as well on

I have installed different versions of fastCGI, have checked the
permissions of the fcgi-ipc directory, reinstalled everything and it
still doesn''t work.

rsync hangs in cron (not SSH-problem)
This is the case
- mounted Inetpub's windows-webserver on /mnt/web1 /mnt/web2, etc.
- rsync this to local dir:
rsync -av --delete /mnt/web1 /mass/kuurne/day
rsync -av --delete /mnt/web2 /mass/kuurne/day
etc..
- when logged in, everything works (I do see some errors about
non-existing files, but rsync won't stop.
When used this command in cron

Are people using puppet in production?
Hi Guys,
At work we need a better way of running our machines. We''ve got 14
machines around the world that we look after (mostly web servers but a
few run mail and dns as you''d expect) and we currently maintain them
individually. They all log to a central syslog server over an openvpn
interface, but aside from that they tend to be in different locations.
Could puppet be any

Odd 'hang' trying to ls a directory ...
Running -STABLE from May 15th, if I do an 'ls /usr', it works ... if I do
an 'ls /vm', it hangs .. the machine doesn't hang, as far as I can tell,
all the web sites are accessible, and there are no errors in
/var/log/messages .. I have soft-updates disabled on that file system, and
iostat is showing the drive array to be quite idle:

split brain? but where?
Hi,
Which version of gluster you are using?
You can find which file is that using the following command
find <brickpath> -samefile <brickpath/.glusterfs/<first two bits of
gfid>/<next 2 bits of gfid>/<full gfid>
Please provide the getfatr output of the file which is in split brain.
The steps to recover from split-brain can be found here,

How to scale mysql servers for a rails application?
I''m a developer working on an application that will potentially be
used by around 500,000 users on a daily basis. Plus some internal apps
communicating to it via ActionWebServices with a potentially high
demand.
Our Operations team is helping us define the necessary system
architecture, and I have one remaining question:
What is the best way to scale the database? I have no expertise in

Data consistency with Gluster 3.2.5
I have set up a replicated, four-node gluster config for a web farm. The
idea is that each web node is its own Gluster server, and will have its
own copy of the entire web root locally. It then serves the cluster to
itself via a mount. We're running it over dual GigE NICs bonded.
The problem I am having is when we switch live traffic to nodes in the
cluster, they almost immediately get

help understanding sip header
What are these messages that * constantly sends to the client? And
why does it always say 'looking for [server ip] in default' ?
Sometimes I see 404's instead of 200's, and I know something is wrong
but I don't know what is being signalled here.
In this case 206.80.111.117 is the * server, and 4.27.217.38 is my nat box.

panic: vinvalbuf: flush failed
Hi,
We have a pretty serious problem with our news server crashing
during the expire cronjob. This happened with 4.7-RELEASE, so
we upgraded to 4.8-RELEASE recently, hoping that the problem
might be fixed, but it isn't. The machine is a Compaq DL360-G2.
I've searched the PR database as well as the mailing list
archives for the panic string, but didn't find anything.

I think this wont work since the user connectig isnt known in the AD,
since the user connecting is mapped to user nobody.

Got some logs. But... they do not make much sense.
It seems to fail to chdir to /tmp. But I can do it with sudo just fine under
the same credentials.
