ext2 inode size patch - RE: PR kern/124621
A while back, I submitted a patch for PR kern/124621, which allows the mounting of an ext2(3) filesystem created with an inode size other than 128. The e2fsprogs' default is now 256, so file systems created on newer Linux distributions or with the port will not be mountable. I was hopeful this would get committed in time for 7.1-RELEASE (and 6.4-RELEASE), however the PR remains open. If

USB detach/attach hangs with 7.0-RELEASE and 7.1-PRERELEASE
Hi, I've noticed some general instability with plugging in or removing USB devices with FreeBSD 7.x, even when the devices are not actively in use. I had this happen with umass and ucom devices 3 times today. The machine hangs solid, there are no obvious signs of a panic or trap to DDB. I can't provide backtraces unfortunately -- these hangs happen on both my laptop and desktop, and

Samba 3.0, fuse-hdfs and write problems
Hi folks, I research at the moment a connection over fuse and samba for hadoop-cluster. Its my private playground, but I have some issues I can't figure out why they happen. I use RHEL5.7, packetlist: rpm -qa|grep samba samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 samba-common-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 2 servers, one provides samba-shares and one I use as client. sysutils/fusefs-ntfs working for anyone?
Hi there, I've been trying to mount my NTFS partitions with the NTFS-3g project's FUSE implementation but am unable to mount anything. I'm on 6-STABLE and have the latest versions of FUSE installed: fusefs-kmod-0.3.0_4 Kernel module for fuse fusefs-libs-2.6.2 FUSE allows filesystem implementation in userspace fusefs-ntfs-0.20070207RC1 Mount NTFS partitions and disk images I use

Ports and WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS
Hello, I wanted to try the new c++ stuff, ie clang-3.2, libc++ and libcxxrt, so I used poudriere to build a jail setup for that ( WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS=yes in src.conf, CXXFLAGS+=-stdlib=libc++ and libsupc++.so.1 libcxxrt.so.1 in libmap.conf ), and started to build my normal set of packages ( see desktop.list ). Please note that I also have WITH_NEW_XORG=yes and WITH_KMS=yes, as well as using the

X11 on Dell D830 with latest 7.1-PRERELEASE
Hi, I've got a Dell Latitude D830 running 7.1-PRERELEASE/amd64 which I've just csup'd to the -STABLE as of 5-Jan-2009, and after going thru' the std build+install; XOrg now comes up with a blank screen, sometimes interspersed with green dots. I did test out X prior to doing an installworld, and that came up with no problems. However, after doing an installworld, X is now broken.

Mounting a previously Windows (ntfs) file system
Hello, I'm planning a conversion of a Windows server (SBS2011) to Samba. All the user data files are already on a separate disc in the Windows server and my idea is to unplug the Windows boot drive and plug in a FreeBSD installation with Samba 3.6.25 running and tested on another machine. Fortunately it's a small installation and everybody is using the same share on the Windows

GlusterFS on a FreeBSD-Server
Hello I want to use GlusterFS as a nfs substitute for a FreeBSD Server and Linux clients. The FreeBSD-server should export several directories. One of these directories contains the home-directory for the client-mashines. The problem is that my GlusterFS setup isn't very stable and crashes quite often. It is less stable, when more than one volume is mounted, but even when only one volume is

FREEBSD 7.1-STABLE crashes when trying to mount USB device of solaris UFS filesystem
Hi everybody, today I met the following problems on my freebsd box. I had a USB stick of opensolaris bootable USB image and tried to mount it on my fbsd box. The first time, when I tried to mount the usb device, my system freezed and then rebooted giving me one core in my dumpdev. When I tried to redo the mounting, the kernel informed me that the filesystem needed to be fsck'd before

7.0-RELEASE panics when loading USB modules x2
Hi, I just had 7.0-RELEASE crash again, whilst kldloading the uplcom.ko module in multi-user mode with X running, and no USB serial devices plugged in. The T43 immediately resets, I don't get a chance to drop into a debugger. This seems like a pretty serious USB regression. Is anyone looking into it? Are these things a thing of the past with the "new" USB code? thanks BMS

GELI partition mount on boot fails after 7.0 -> 7.1-PRERELEASE upgrade
I was using a GELI partition for /usr/home on 7.0, so it attaches and mounts on boot. The problem is it stopped working after the system was upgraded to RELENG_7/7.1-PRERELEASE. Here's how it goes: I have the following /etc/fstab: /dev/ad0s1b none swap sw 0 0 /dev/ad0s1a / ufs rw 1 1 /dev/ad0s1d
