Xen advice requested
Hello, For a few months I build a new Xen server, both domU en dom0 are 64-bits. I had some hardware problems, that's the reason the server is not doing production-work now, but I would like to go in production real soon. My problem is that I made this server for a longer term. And I don't see a 64-bit domU in the 2.6.25 kernel, only a 32-bit domU kernel with PAE support. My processor

Console and disk-devicenames in DomU on Lenny?
Hi, I've tried to setup a new DomU on Lenny and I'm a little bit confused on which device names I should use for disks and console in the various DomU-kernels? Is it correct that: 2.6.18-xen-kernel from Etch start with no "extra" tty1 in /etc/inittab /dev/sd for disks 2.6.26-xen-kernel from Lenny: start with no "extra" hvc0 in /etc/inittab /dev/xvd for disks

Time problem in Xen domU's after kernel update
Hello, I did a security-update for lenny a kernel on my dom0. And I rebooted one of the domU's (not sure if that's related). Now I have a problem with the time in the domU's. The time does not change anymore. The time is different in the different domU's. I don't use an independent_wallclock, so the time should be the same on the dom0 and the domU's. In the dom0 there is

Pygrub problem
Hello, I would like to use the kernel in the domU, so that a user can install it's own kernel. While starting the domU with pygrub I get the following error: "Error: Boot loader didn't return any data!" This is the configfile of the domU: -------------- # # Configuration file for the Xen instance lenny.vandervlis.nl, created # by xen-tools 3.9 on Sun Oct 19 15:46:03 2008. # #

2.6.18 removed from Lenny
Hello, I saw the Linux 2.6.18 kernel was removed from Lenny. So there is no dom0 in Lenny anymore. Maybe it would be an idea to leave the 2.6.18 kernel in Lenny to use them as dom0. Only the i386 and amd64 ofcause. Then it would also be possible to add the latest code from xen.org to it. I saw Linux 2.6.27 already has a 64-bit Xen dom0. So the code is ready... Maybe not well enough tested. I

Trying to upgrade domU to squeeze
Hello, Not sure this is the right place to ask Xen user-questions. I am running Lenny and try to upgrade a domU to Squeeze. After the installation of a new xen-kernel in the domU and upgrading udev I did a reboot but then the kernel does not find the root anymore, and it's dropping me to a shell. When I look into /dev/ I don't see any disks or partions. Is here somebody who can help me

AMD64 port in Lenny
Hello, I see a Xen hypervisor package for AMD64 in Lenny and unstable, but no xen-kernel for AMD64. Is there a linux-image-2.6-xen-amd64 package planned for Lenny? With regards, Paul van der Vlis. -- http://www.vandervlis.nl/

Testing Xen on Lenny
Hello, I've been asked to test this, can anyone help me? The platform I would like to test on: - Lenny/amd64 - Intel VT-i (Xen HVM support) I've looked over the various threads and wiki pages on the issue and I thought I would try to summarise it more concisely: dom0 (32 bit): - regular install using Lenny CD, Debian Installer, i386 - install the kernel package from etch,

dom0 hangs when rebooting debian lenny domU
Dear all, I have a reproducible issue with centos54 dom0 and debian lenny domU using pygrub. As far as I enter "shutdown -r now" in the running Debian Lenny DomU the whole system hangs. Keyboard is dead, network is dead and no more logging. Ending up in a hardware reset of the box. I was able to reproduce this 3 times. Restarting with xm reboot debian50 works without problems. Is there

R slower after etch->lenny upgrade
Hi. Last week I updated from 32 bit etch to 32 bit lenny on an AMD SMP machine. I first cloned the system disk to an identical drive, and updated the cloned drive. I still have the etch install untouched on the previous drive, which has allowed me to do some testing. After the update R has slowed down significantly. A user brought this to my attention, and at this point we have only

Hi Centos users I successfully installed a Centos 5.1 DomU on Debian Etch Dom0. I used the virtual file systems from Jailtime[0] How to this manual (without using Jailtime)? No new xen packages in sid?
Hello, I still do not see any amd64 packages in sid, and it's not clear to me if the 686-packages has dom0 support or not. I see links here: http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux-2.6.html But they don't work, e.g: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=linux-modules-2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 I uploaded the amd64-packages to my site: http://www.vandervlis.nl/xen/ They are working for me (I

AW: debian Lenny -> Squeeze domU mdX software raidmigration - failed to assemble arrays
Hi, to make transitions more convenient, I've done this by using uuid instead of device names. If you ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid inside your domU, you'll see something like lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 39a2a64b-0716-47ad-92f4-a7437cac54ee -> ../../sda2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 e8b97b59-a790-417c-8231-fe8da8b6e6ee -> ../../sda1 In /etc/fstab inside the domU,

Cannot call to my server with SIP
Hello, I cannot call my server over the internet with SIP anymore. Even when I do a maximum logging on my firewall, I don't see packets coming from outside. I've tried it from an ekiga.net account and an sip2sip.info account. What could be wrong? I would expect incoming traffic on port 5060 UDP... The account is "paul at vandervlis.nl". Several xen problems in Debian Etch
Hi folks, before I flood the bug tracking system, I just want to send you a list of problems I encountered when using xen under Debian Etch (i386 on Intel Core2 Duo E6750). Shall I open a seperate bug report for each of the items below or are some of them features that are known to be missing in the xen release? - A HVM domain does not start when using a physical disk without specifing the
