CentOS 7/8s EOL : infrastructure impacts (please read)
Hi, do we know what happens with the images at major hyperscalers and when? I?m interested specifically about GCP. Who is in charge of centos-cloud project in GCP? You or Google? $ gcloud compute images describe centos-stream-8-v20240312 --project centos-cloud architecture: X86_64 archiveSizeBytes: '7072654848' creationTimestamp: '2024-03-12T11:46:50.983-07:00' description:

[Infra] - Planned outage : lists.centos.org (migration to mailman3) : please read
Due to a needed upgrade , we'll have to move the existing CentOS mailman instance (aka https://lists.centos.org) to a new server/host. Migration is scheduled for """"Tuesday April 8th, 7:00 am UTC time"""". You can convert to local time with $(date -d '2024-04-08 07:00 UTC') The expected "downtime" is estimated to ~60 minutes , time

I'd say, let Mailman throw all people off the list that have enabled DMARC checking without using exceptions for the lists they are on. It's a known fact that DMARC does not

centos 8-Streams kernel?
Hi, Does anyone know what is happening with centos 8-Streams kernel? It has been behind RHEL for months now, RHEL8.7 has 4.18.0-425.3.1.el8 built in December and Streams has 4.18.0-408.el8 built all the way back in end October. Is there some policy somewhere that I missed that says that 9 will be now getting the focus or whatnot? thanks,

Large server, Xen limitations
Hi, we''re contemplating getting a large new server, where we will run a number of virtual servers. Are there any things we need to keep in mind in that case? Are there limitations on what a Xen system can manage? We''re talking about a 4 x Quad core CPU server with 64 GBs of RAM and a couple of terabytes of RAIDed SATA storage. -Morten (Re-sending this, as the first message

xen+drbd Question
Hi list, I installed two new servers to be our virtualization HA. This servers have CentOS 5.2, Xen 3.0.3, Drbd 8.2.6. The setup is ok, lvm drbd resources sincronizing, Guest VM running without any problem. My only doubt is that I can only use drbd resources inside guest vms when I specify the disk resource in vms config like this: disk = ['phy:/dev/VolGroup00/vappprtem01,hda,w' ]

centos 8-Streams kernel?
Heh, Your sentiments on the website very much mirror my own, although I?m more focused on server applications rather than on desktop (we use Macs and Ubuntu for that). When Red Hat announced Streams, I was terrified at first and my first instinct was to switch to Rocky or a similar 1:1 distro, but then thought there might be something good coming out of the whole ordeal. And indeed it did, we

centos 8-Streams kernel?
If you want to follow CentOS Stream development, I have two websites that grab CentOS-supplied XML and publish blog entries of updated packages whenever that happens: https://centos.passthejoe.net/ https://passthejoe.tilde.institute/centos/ Both websites have the same content. Frustration with CentOS Stream 8 development and security -- especially the kernel -- drove me to create this site so

Git and vendor/rails
This is really a git question but the problem is with rails using git and others may have come across the problem. I have a branch on my application''s git repository with edge rails as a subproject checked out into vendor/rails. this allows me to keep my application edge-compliant by checking out the branch (which creates the rails folder in vendor), pulling the latest edge rails and

Trust problems after upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6
Hello. My setup: _ one Samba 3.5 domain (XXXXXXXX), with a PDC and a BDC, both running FreeBSD; _ one AD domain (YYYYYYYY) running on two Windows 2003 DCs; _ bidirectional trust between the two domains. Everything used to work until I moved the PDC from Samba 3.5 (EOL'ed) to 3.6; now, users from domain YYYYYYYY cannot access the PDC's shares. I used to have in smb.conf: >
