form_remote_tag with multipart/form-data
Does form_remote_tag supports multipart/form-data ?
My form looks like this:
<%= form_remote_tag :url => { :action => ''do_image_upload'' },
:html => { :enctype => ''multipart/form-data'' } %>
<%= file_field ''image'', ''file_data'', :size => 32 %>
<%= submit_tag

Problem getting form_remote_tag to work with image upload
Hey guys,
I am trying to pass the parameters for the file being upload, but the
params[] are not being passed. Ive read through some posts and realize
this is an issue with RoR.
I read through some of the posts and someone suggested using:
http://svn.kylemaxwell.com/form_remote_upload/trunk/
I tried to install it, and although I thought I installed it correctly,
it doesn''t work.

Problem using form_remote_tag and multipart
I have a form and e file field, and what I''m trying to do is when the
file is uploaded, a div shows the uploaded image using ajax, without
refreshing the page. But the problem I''m having is that with
form_remote_tag it won''t accept :multipart => true. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot

Iframe upload indicator
I''m using the iframe trick to upload files with form_tag and a target
pointing to the iframe. All is working, but I would like to display an
indicator of the upload. All I want to do is show a hidden animated gif via
Element.show. With form_remote_tag, i could use the :loading and :complete
callbacks to do an Element.show and Element.hide. How do I achieve a similar
effect with form_tag?

file_column + form_remote_tag
For my weekend project, I''m going to get form_remote_tag and
file_column playing happily together. According to my research, no
one has done this yet. If you happen to have tried this, and have
some workable code, send me an email. I''d rather not duplicate the
effort.
Thanks!

Autocompleter without a default choice
Hi,
I have an ajax auto completer for a text field in a form. All''s good.
Unfortunately, I also want the form to be submitted when the user hits
''return'' in the text field.
This combination of circumstances means that if the user is typing his
entry and then hits return to submit it is possible that dang auto
completer will pop up and complete his entry for even if he

form_remote_tag :onsubmit not working.
Hi,
Has anyone successfully implemented the :onsubmit option for
form_remote_tag. It doesn''t seem to work for me. Is there any specific
version of rails which is required for the same.
Here''s my piece of code.
<script>
function set_tojid(){
alert(''onsubmit'');
}
</script>
<%= form_remote_tag :update => '''', :url => {

syntax for specifying :html fallback on form_remote_tag
Has anyone gotten the :html option for specifying a ''fallback'' action if javascript''s not enabled working on form_remote_tag (or remote_form_for)? I can''t figure out how to specify the action that''s supposed to be invoked if js _is_ enabled.
Or maybe I''m just misunderstanding how this thing is supposed to work. I was assuming

Prototype Based Validation with form_remote_tag
Hello,
I am attempting to use validation.js from
http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/really-easy-field-validation-with-prototyp
e/ with form_remote_tag. The rails form helper binds the needed
Ajax.Updater to the onSubmit action of the form. The validation.js also
attempts to bind to the onSubmit of the form.
The logic that is needed is
if( valid.validate() )
{
...Ajax.Updater...
}
where valid

IFRAME based RJS - responds_to_parent
** File uploads with AJAX mojo **
Respond with RJS to your parent window with a form action targeted to
a hidden IFRAME. Handles all the painful situations like scoping
your JavaScript to your parent window generating the script block for
execution and clearing the IFRAME after execution so the back button
doesn''t re-execute the action.

form_remote_tag and rendering partials with <script> tags
Has anyone successfully used a form remote file upload either by using
the respond_to_parent plugin or kylemaxwell''s form_remote_tag plugin to
render a partial or code with <script> tags in it.
This would be very useful for RoR''ers to create new ajaxy elements.
If you can, can you post a sample code if you got it working.

form_remote_tag : additional onsubmit funct. possible ?
Is there a way to add onsubmit functionality to a form_remote_tag with
an additional javascript directive?
eg I''d like for an inline javascript to make the form''s div container
hidden as soon as the button is pressed to avoid having it possibly get
pressed again ( sometimes the rails response is slow enough for a user
to think they need to re-press it ).
example:

An update method for lists?
Hi,
since lattice uses nested lists in various situations, it has had an
unexported function called updateList for a while, which looks like
> lattice:::updateList
function (x, val)
{
if (is.null(x))
x <- list()
if (!is.list(x))
stop("x must be NULL or a list")
if (!is.list(val))
stop("val must be a list")
xnames <- names(x)

csv file transfer with form_remote_tag?
Good morning! I have a case where I need to build a csv file from my
model and allow a user to download/save that file. I''ve got this all
working with non-Ajax forms, but the generation of the csv file can take
quite a bit of time, so I want to provide a busy indicator for my user.
So I tried the following in my view:
<% form_remote_tag ( :url =>{:action =>

Ajax response won''t display
I''m hopeful that this is something simple i''m missing, but I''ve run out of
things to try. It should work just like the example in Agile Web
Development with Rails (i think)
I send an ajax request using remote_form and it''s processing correctly on
the server and returning a new form, but it won''t replace the original.
It''s supposed to update a

file_field doesnt work inside form_remote_for
When I do file_field within a form_for things are fine... but within a
form_remote_for, with nothing else changed, I find that the params
does not even have the element document[uploaded_file] even though it
is definitely present in the HTML source in the form. Obviously the
file upload fails.
Am I missing something? Or has someone else faced this? Or is this a
known bug?

form_remote_tag :condition
I am using the following validation prototype-based js library:
http://tetlaw.id.au/view/javascript/really-easy-field-validation
What I am trying to do is upon submitting a form via AJAX, I want it
to meet the conditions of the validation of the function validateMe()
If it passes, go ahead and continue and push the form information via
an AJAX call. This is what I have:
