How to use evt_update_ui wrt RichTextCtrl ?
Hi, I''m trying to create a very simple RichTextCtrl sample based on the C++ version. This works pretty well now with the fixes for missing RichTextCtrl.selection_bold? ... methods. See the attached script. Given the formatting buttons (bold, italics, underlined), I can type text with the proper formatting, select some text and apply a formatting later ... A problem about updating an FXRuby program layout recursively
Dear all, I have a design question: assume we have an FXText field containing a sentence The <best> Ruby version is the current one. with "best" highlighted, and there is a choice of words | most wonderful |, | cutest |, | most effective | to replace "best". To do the replacement, I want to just click on any of three buttons. I want to iterate through all of the

Tab control using FXRuby
In the sample program below I have a form of 6 text fields, in a scrolling window, followed by a row of function buttons. Problems: 1) For data entry purposes I''d like the function buttons NOT to be entered by pressing Tab keys, and retain their ''clickability'', but when the user Tab''s out of the last scrolling field (postcode) to have the form scroll to the

Learning FXRuby please help!
Hi all, I''m trying to get text on to the screen in response to pressing a button. This code doesn''t work, and I don''t know why. My puts command says that the window is shown, but it''s not displayed. Also, it seems to me that there should be an easier way to get text on a screen in response to pressing a button. Any hints? Thanks! Marlene require

Dynamic generation of a (sub) layout
Hi, first of all - I''m relatively unexpierienced with GUI programming in general and with FXRuby in particular. I''ve managed to write a little FXRuby app that animates some data I''ve collected. I made really good progress for a while, but now I''m stuck with the following problem. My data is read from file and can have a varying number of elements, depending on

FXTable segfaults after multiple setTableSize calls
When I empty and refill an FXTable multiple times with a large data set (10,000 rows x 1 column in the example below, around 1000 rows x 6 columns in a more complicated app), the application eventually fails with a segmentation fault. The number of repetitions required to produce the segfault is rather random, ranging from just a couple reps to 15 or 20 in some trials. The program disappears

Proposal for an improved API for Sizer (and ToolBar)
Hi all, This is a proposal for supporting keyword arguments to Sizer#add following the thread below : http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/wxruby-development/2008-March/001244.html After a deeper look at lib/wx/keyword_ctors.rb and lib/wx/keyword_defs.rb, I understood the whole thing :-). I just reused and modified slightly the method args_as_list. The new Sizer#add_item combines the features of add

mdiclient windows do not always activate on click
I just noticed that MDIClient windows do not automatically become current when they receive a mouse click, but only do so if the click happens inside of an enabled widget. This may very well be correct, but if so then what is the right way to handle it, if you want a more familiar window-manager behavior (click to focus)? For example, if you change the mditest.rb example like so... ---

Connecting messages to methods
Hi all. I''m trying to write a subclass of FXMainWindow which has several methods to dispatch events. The class looks like this: -- require "fox12" require "fox12/responder" include Fox class Window < FXMainWindow include Responder ID_SELF, ID_BTN = enum(FXMainWindow::ID_LAST, 2) def initialize(a, title) super(a, title, nil, nil, DECOR_ALL, 0, 0, 640,
