win32 problems
I''m setting up a Rails app for a client that uses Windows. I''m

FreeBSD 6.1 mongrel_cluster and procfs message
I''m running the latest mongrel (1.0.1) and the latest mongrel_cluster
(1.0.1.1) on FreeBSD 6.1.
When I use capistrano to try to stop or restart my cluster I get this
(partial) output:
ps: Process environment requires procfs(5)
And my Mongrel processes haven''t stopped.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Mongrel 0.3.13.1 -- Quick Small Fixes
Hi Everyone,
This is a small release that fixes a little bug, some of the
documentation, and adds the new RedirectHandler code and a @redirect@
call for the mongrel.conf files. It''s fresh so don''t rely on it.
Everyone should upgrade with the usual *gem update* command (which tells
you it''s "Upgrading...") and tell me how it works.
This release fixes:

Rails Deployment Book
I''ve been mulling over an idea for a book covering Ruby on Rails
application deployment. Obvious topics include using Mongrel by itself
and with Apache/Lighttpd, load balancers, memcached, and Capistrano.
What other topics would you like to see covered in such a book?
Cheers,

Mongrel Cluster init.d problems
I have installed mongrel and mongrel_cluster fine and have them
running great with my app. I tried using the init.d script provided
with mongrel_cluster 2.1 to start it up on boot but it doesn''t.
mongrel_cluster_ctl works fine for me by hand and so does
/etc/init.d./mongrel_cluster start. I am on Debian so I installed the
service links with sudo update-rc.d mongrel_cluster defaults. And

Mongrel processes
Whilst monitoring my host I noticed that there were three
mongrel_rails processes running for a single (non mongrel_clustered)
application. Is this normal? Do the processes share the memory top
indicates they''re each using?
Cheers,

[WARN] Got 99% CPU?
Hey folks,
I ran into a few people at RubyConf who were having 99% CPU issues. Please contact me if you meet the following criteria:
1. You are running a production site.
2. You are experiencing 99% CPU errors.
3. This is frequent enough that you cannot manage it.
Thank you. Please contact me off-list about it.

Ajax.InPlaceEditor onSuccess: ???
I''m looking for onSuccess: in Ajax.InPlaceEditor, but it doesn''t
appear to exist. onComplete isn''t what I need because I only want my
callback on success. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks,

Mongrel Debian packages
Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know that I built some Debian (Sarge)
packages to allow an apt-get only installation of Mongrel, Ruby and
friends.
Also contained is an init script that is capable of managing
multiple applications. Support for the Pen load balancer is also
included.
More info can be found there:

a better question
I''m trying to call a click() event on an <a href> that has an
Observable registered for it. Something like:
<a href="#" id="toggle_1929">show</a>
...
Event.observe("toggle_1929", ''click'', function(event){ Element.toggle
("group_1929"); return false; });
...
$("toggle_1929").click(); //this throws

InPlaceEditor convertHTMLLineBreaks
I''m curious if anyone else has a need to disable
*convertHTMLLineBreaks*. I actually need to show the <p>''s and <br>''s
in the editor and browsing the source code, see that this isn''t
configurable.

markaby
What''s the current status of Markaby? I''ve played with it a bit and
love it and am considering using it for a large project I''m starting.
If you''ve used it, I''d love to hear your comments!

performance
I''ve got a page I''ve implemented a bunch of observables and
sortables. There are around 330 items in the list. The Observables
(for hide/show of sublists) don''t seem to impact performance, but the
Sortables take a very long time to load when the page is refreshed or
submitted--even after accounting for the server-side processing and
latency. I''ve

Markaby Installation Issues
Ok,
So I followed the directions.. I did a ''gem install markaby'' (which sounds
like its enough to get me going for rails), but I wasn''t sure, so I tried to
install the plugin as well.
Plugin installation fails looking for a file:
Script/plugin install http://code.whytheluckystiff.net/svn/markaby/trunk
Outputs this error:

Mongrels stop responding
I have a Rails 1.2.3 app (due for an update, I know) running on a
Mongrel 1.1.4 behind Apache 2.2.3 mod_proxy on Debian 4.0. It keeps
hanging up for no reason I can tell. I have tried everything that anyone
has ever hinted at being a solution for this problem:
- The application doesn''t use MySQL, so setting the connection timeout
won''t help.
- Using AR not PStore for sessions.

Recent crashes
Hi,
After figuring out the strange "rdoc" related crashes yesterday I''ve
really started to test out puppet today. However, as my manifests
become more complex I''m back to seeing random crashes again.
I read the recent message in the archives of this list about
downgrading to Debian''s libruby1.8-1.8.4-1 but it seems like only the
"-5" version is in

sorting error "Error: item.id has no properties"
I''ve got some sorting working now, but when the page loads and when I
drag, I keep getting this error:
"Error: item.id has no properties"
My <ul> and <li> elements all have ids. Do child elements all need ids?
Here''s the code from dragdrop.js where the error is being thrown ( a
few lines from the bottom of the file, line 501--HEAD version)

Sortable and the Server
I want to build a sortable list that updates the server when the item
is dropped into its new position. How to create a sortable list is
clear, but I''m looking for an example of how to integrate this with
the server side. Are there any examples or tutorials around? I''m
working in a java environment.
Thanks,
