Rails debugging - a (slightly) better approach?
Hi all, First up hello everybody, I''m new to this forum. I am also new to Ruby and Rails. One thing that struck me as very inconvenient for someone just learning the Rails ropes is that (apart from Arachno and Komodo, which at the moment I cannot afford - and don''t particularly like) there is no reasonable debugging support for Rails. I know about breakpointer which - while

gam (mgcv) vs. multiple regression breakpoint analysis: inconsistencies?
Dear useRs, I have a question with respect to fitting a non-linearity using gam (mgcv package, version 1.7-16). In a study I'm currently conducting, I'd like to find out if there is a breakpoint after which the effect of Age of Acquisition (AOA) of the second language changes. I.e. if the slope of AOA before the breakpoint (at a certain AOA) is different from the slope past the

[RFC v3 20/27] x86/ftrace: Adapt function tracing for PIE support
When using -fPIE/PIC with function tracing, the compiler generates a call through the GOT (call *__fentry__ at GOTPCREL). This instruction takes 6 bytes instead of 5 on the usual relative call. With this change, function tracing supports 6 bytes on traceable function and can still replace relative calls on the ftrace assembly functions. Position Independent Executable (PIE) support will allow to

strucchange Fstats() example
Dear all, I'm trying to understand how the strucchange package is working and I have been looking at the examples given for the Fstats() function. The first example (Nile), shows one peak in the F-stats and one breakpoint is estimated, that can be plotted using the following code ## Nile data with one breakpoint: the annual flows drop in 1898 ## because the first Ashwan dam was built

LoadOEMResource crash [Was: Re: Problem report: SHRINKER.ERR, fix to DEVICE_Open/CreateFileA? ]
Hooray, I got gdb to do what I need, to skip the first exception and break before the second. The key commands are: gdb (winepath)/bin/wine Set the arguments: > set args --winver nt40 yourapp Tell gdb to pass segmentation faults to the program: > handle SIGSEGV nostop pass Set a breakpoint at main: > b main Run the program: > run This loads all the shared libraries, and

Breakpoints and non linear regression
Hello, I have done some research about breakpoints (I am not a statistician) and I found out about the breakpoint, strucchange and segmented packages in R allowing to find breakpoints assuming linear model. However, I would like to fit a periodic time series with a non linear (periodic) model, and I was wondering how I could find breakpoints for this model in R. Is it even possible ? My model

testing an ARFIMA model for structural breaks with unknown breakpoint
Dear R users, I'm trying to use the "strucchange" package to determine structural breaks in an ARFIMA model. Unfortunately I'm not so familiar with this topic (and worse, I'm a beginner in R), so I don't know exactly how to specify my model so that the "Fstats","sctest" and "breakpoint" functions to recognize it and to calculate the

Interpretation of davies.test() in segmented package
My data: I have raw data points that form a logit style curve as if they were a time series. Which is to say they form 3 distinct lines with 3 distinct slopes in backwards z pattern. A certain class of my data looks essentially flat to the eye with marginal oscillation. What is important to me is the x value at which the state change is occurring, in other words, the break point Use of

linear mixed effects models with breakpoints
Hi folks I have some data to which I've been fitting linear mixed effects models. I am currently using a lme model in the nlme package, with terms for random effects due to repeated measures on individuals and the corCAR1 serial correlation structure. However, there is some suggestion in the data (and from theory) that a breakpoint (change point) model may be more appropriate. Scott, Norman

[LLVMdev] MCJIT debugger registration interface.
Hi All, I'd like to revisit the MCJIT debugger-registration system, as the existing system has a few flaws, some of which are seriously problematic. The 20,000 foot overview of the existing scheme (implemented in llvm/lib/ExecutionEngine/RuntimeDyld/GDBRegistrar.cpp and friends), as I understand it, is as follows: We have two symbols in MCJIT that act as fixed points for the debugger to

Auth SEGV on sparc64, alignment problem?
Okay. Got to the next bit pretty quickly.: Breakpoint 4, auth_settings_read (service=0x0, pool=0x4104b020, output_r=0x7fdfffff6d0) at auth-settings.c:522 522 input.module = "auth"; (gdb) n 523 input.service = service; (gdb) n 524 if (master_service_settings_read(master_service, &input, (gdb) s Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. Re: gdbsx bug : fail on a breakpoint
Hmm... I don't know whats the real cause. Is it during boot of the HVM guest, or is the guest completely up and you are trying to set breakpoing? For immediate use, can you just rebuilt the kernel with module built in? I don't have a setup right now to debug/fix it, and am very busy with PVH and preparing for xen summit, so need some time to debug and fix it. thanks, mukesh PS: please

Breakpoints in plugins?
I''m using the acts_as_taggable plugin for Rails, and trying to set a breakpoint within it to examine behavior. While breakpoints work just fine in my main application, execution is never halted for the breakpoint in the plugin. Are breakpoints intended to work in plugins, or am I trying to use an unsupported feature? Thanks guys. John -- Posted with http://DevLists.com. Sign
