Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies?
The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

Measure system resources consumptions by ClamAV File scanner
Hi,
I am running ClamAV process which is invoked by Cron scheduler around 3:00
AM ( Midnight) on remote server running CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810

consumptions like CPU, Network, I/O, Memory and Computing load is

Slow pkginstalls due to long door_calls to nscd
Hi all,
I am installing a zone onto two different V445s running S10U4 and the
zones are taking hours to install (about 1000 packages), that is, the
problem is identical on both systems. A bit of trussing and dtracing has
shown that the pkginstalls being run by the zoneadm install are making
door_call calls to nscd that are taking very long, so far observed to be
5 to 40 seconds, but always in

[PATCH 0/4] Virtual Machine Time Accounting
The aim of these four patches is to introduce Virtual Machine time accounting.
_Ingo_, as these patches modify files of the scheduler, could you have a look to
them, please ?
[PATCH 1/4] as recent CPUs introduce a third running state, after "user" and
"system", we need a new field, "guest", in cpustat to store the time used by
the CPU to run virtual CPU. Modify

ZFS Locking Up periodically
I''ve recently re-installed an X4500 running Nevada b109 and have been
experiencing ZFS lock ups regularly (perhaps once every 2-3 days).
The machine is a backup server and receives hourly ZFS snapshots from
another thumper - as such, the amount of zfs activity tends to be
reasonably high. After about 48 - 72 hours, the file system seems to lock
up and I''m unable to do anything

Possible AGI Bug in Asterisk?
Dear All,
I seem to have stumbled across an AGI problem;
I have written an AGI Script (bottom of this email);
The script does the following;
Makes a CDR entry when called
Records the call
Updates the CDR
Finds a corresponding DNIS from the SMDR table (captured via a serial
port logger)
Matches up the record and updates the CDR.
The script works perfectly in my test lab and has been doing so

System deadlock when using mksnap_ffs
I've been playing around with snapshots lately but I've got a problem on
one of my servers running 7-STABLE amd64:
FreeBSD paladin 7.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE #8: Mon Nov 10 20:49:51 GMT 2008 tdb@paladin:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/PALADIN amd64
I run the mksnap_ffs command to take the snapshot and some time later
the system completely freezes up:
paladin# cd /u2/.snap/

2.0, hourly performance stats
I'm getting constantly high numbers of page reclaims & involuntary
context switches for dovecot/auth.
page reclaims = minor faults = cpu switching back to system-mode, But
why is the auth process doing that so excessively? Same for the large
number of involuntary context switches...
Attached is my "dovecot -n" output.

CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y possible in Dom0 kernel?
HI,
Is it possible to specify CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y in the Dom0 kernel? It seems
that it is forbidden as it is not a menu option in make menuconfig and gets
removed if I manually add it to the .config.
I want to run a sound server on Dom0 and am having problems with xruns at
present, so need to be able to run a preemptive kernel.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Fwd: Re: struct page field arrangement
Btw., another question that made me wonder already when doing the
original patch: why is it that x86-64 properly uses locking for mm_pin_all(),
yet i386 doesn''t need to?
