X session lockup (CentOS 4.7)
I just had a very odd incident with my session locking up, so I thought I'd describe it to see if it rings any bells with anyone. Background: I shut down my machine last night for Earth Hour, so the last thing I did before logging out was exit Firefox3, telling it to save my open tab state. When I turned the system back on and started FF3 again, it installed new versions of three plugins (I

which firefox tab is eating my CPU?
According to top, plugin-containe is eating more than 120% of my CPU? I expect that that is allowed because I have a dual core CPU. Firefox is sloooooooowwwww. I expect that plugin-containe... is running in a firefox tab. How do I non-destructively discover which one? I'm running CentOS 6 and firefox 24.8.0 . I haven't updated firefox in a while because I've read that doing so will

Mozilla Dtrace and Tabs?
I use a lot of tabs and Firefox runs very slowly. I would like to figure out which tabs are eating up resources (cpu, memory, etc). Will the Mozilla dtrace framework be any help with this? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Session is being shared between tabs!!??
I have just spotted quite a serious problem with my rails app. My app uses the session to store information. Most people who use the app may have more than one instance of it open in their browser (multiple tabs). The session stores which country the user has selected. On each browser tab the user may select a different country. You can add items to a country. There are problems with

Keyboard tab switching in Firefox
Hi! I decided to give Firefox 2 a try in Wine, because I wanted to use FlashGot and FlashGet. It works surprisingly well. However, there's one minor annoyance: using Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to change tabs doesn't work. Ctrl+Shift+Tab doesn't do anything, and Ctrl+Tab shows/hides the bookmarks sidebar. What would be the best course of action to find out where the bug

Firefox Tab Cycle Plugin?
Hi folks, I thought I saw a comment on this list a ways back about a firefox plugin that would make a browser automatically cycle through the tabs it had loaded. We'd like to use this to load some monitoring systems in tabs, and then have the browser cycle through them so we have a poor-man's status display station. Does anyone know more specifics about this plugin I think I heard

handling navigation tabs - use sessions?
I think this is a fairly easy question done several times in several languages, but on a traditional ''tab'' based navigation webpage, what''s the best way to handle the active state? I am using this in my view: <% for category in @categories %> <% if the condition is met to make this the active tab %> <li><a id=''active''

help.start() on linux (fedora 8) when firefox alreading running - a way to open a new tab?
Using linux fedora 8 (x86_64) I get the following when firefox is already running. Is there a way to adjust settings in either R or firefox to open a new tab when help.start() is invoked? Thanks. --Dale > help.start() Making links in per-session dir ... If '/usr/bin/firefox' is already running, it is *not* restarted, and you must switch to its window. Otherwise, be patient ...

CentOS 7, firefox, and flash
I posted Friday about this oddity. Now I've got more data, and what's happening is this: if I tell noscript to enable youtube and googlevideo in one tab, not only does it affect *all* tabs, but also affects another browser window opened from the first browser window. Anyone have any clues for a workaround fix? mark

How to open several tabs in a gnome-terminal window and run a command in each tab?
"gnome-terminal --tab-with-profile=AAA --tab-with-profile=BBB" Hi I am trying to open several tabs in a gnome-terminal window like above. I want to run a command for each tab within the body of the above command. AAA and BBB are both profiles I have created and also predefined environment variable on my system (each representing a path to a folder). The code I was hoping would work was

Remote firefox configuration
Hi everyone! :-) I need to change some firefox configuration settings on a remote machine (running an up-to-date CentOS 5), using nothing but ssh for access (ie. no ssh -X or such, the link is too slow). The setting that I need to reconfigure is the one about what to open on startup --- in a GUI it is reached as Edit -> Preferences -> General tab -> "When Firefox starts".

Replacing tabs with appropriate number of spaces
Colleagues, Platform: OS X (but issue applies to all platforms) Version: 2.8.0 I have a mixture of text and data that I am outputting via R to a pdf document (using a fixed-width font). The text contains tabs that align columns properly with a fixed-width font in a terminal window. However, when the PDF document is created, the concept of a tab is not invoked properly and columns do
