samba-tool dns zoneoptions --mark-old-records-static
But this one return a lot of objects :
sudo ldbsearch -H ldap://server1 -P
-b"DC=example.com,CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=exemple,DC=com"
-s sub '(&(objectClass=dnsNode)(!(dNSTombstoned=TRUE)))' dnsRecord name
@Wilfred : Sorry I fogot an argument, but if I ajust the command I have the
same answer than with --mark-old-records-static=2021-03-30

samba-tool dns zoneoptions --mark-old-records-static
In short, I have my dns records in :
CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=ariane,DC=intra
and I have root dns in :
CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=ariane,DC=intra
but I don't have a "MicrosoftDNS" entry in DC=ariane,DC=intra

samba AD - bind - deleted DNS entries are not removed completely
So in my case - is it safe to delete directly using ldbdel or using
windows ADSI gui ldap editor? Or is there another way? What is the right
way to do it?
something like:
ldbdel -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb
-b"DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=mydomain,DC=com '(dNSTombstoned: TRUE)' ?
I read in samba 4.9 new features release notes about scavenging but I'm

samba4 AD DNS zone corrupted
Hello everyone,
somehow I broke my DNS zone managed by samba4. Unfortunately, I'm out of
ideas and you are my last hope!
When I want to open it in Windows DNS administration MSC, I get the
following error when selecting the zone: "Zone Not Loaded by DNS Server".
When running regular DNS queries on that zone, everything works fine.
# host -t A mydomain.local
mydomain.local has

samba AD - bind - deleted DNS entries are not removed completely
To answer my own question:
Yes, it's seems like a feature.
I ran basic ldbsearch query:
ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb -b
"DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=mydomain,DC=com" and saw in output entries with:
dNSTombstoned: TRUE
Overall there are a couple hundred entries with as such. So now my
question is:
How can I safely remove them, any tips/guideliness? I thought that

samba 4 joining a Windows 2003 srv / Sync and DNS problems
hello,
After a lot of different approach to move from an old windows 2000
server AD to samba4, my last try seems nearly good now...
I did this :
- Preparing the old DC with adprep commands
- add DNS and AD roles in a new temporary win 2003srv
- add this new server as an AD controller
- transfer all roles to win2003 with ntdsutil command
- demote win2000
- put the AD domain and forest functional

Zone update refused on mac client
Hello everyone,
I have just integrated my first MAC computer on my AD samba domain, and I
have this message in my server logs:
*Zone update refused:*
* mac-t6y99l3q44.ariane.intra (insufficient access rights): 2 Time(s)*
For Windows clients, I have a GPO that disables client-side DNS update, but
I can't find this procedure for MAC. Do you know how to proceed?
Thanks in advance

AD RODC not being used because of missing DNS entries?
Hi All,
Is it correct that my RODC domain controller (DC2.ad.example.nl) has only one entry in the (internal) DNS on domain controller DC1?
It seems to me that because of missing dns entries it is not used by clients in the ad domain
I recently installed a second Domain Controller (DC2) along the smooth running first domain controller DC1.
Samba version 4.8.5, Centos 7 Linux, further config
