plockstat - chopped stack output
Hi - I''m trying to use plockstat to help identify any mutex contention issues we may have in our c++ app. >From the docs it would appear to be a very useful tool - unfortunately in practice this doesn''t bear out purely because the stack traces produced are limited to being 39/40 characters wide. In general this means that I''m not seeing ~75% of each stack symbol and

Why is plockstat provider only present for 1 process
Hi, I would like to know why dtrace -l |grep plockstat show plockstat28099 lines. Process with pid 28099 is a java process. Why can I not examine other processes with the plockstat provider? Is it a java startup option? Regards Hans -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Question about -xlaxyload option to dtrace -G
Hello, I am trying to get documentation how how this lazyloading happens when you are dealing with dtrace probes being added to user applications. In particular if it somehow avoids the overhead of registering dtrace probes when they aren''t needed, how does it know if they are needed, etc... thanks, Robert

Metropolis acceptance rates
Is there a way to recover Metropolis-step acceptance rates AFTER completing posterior draws? The immediate application is in the probit.bayes and logit.bayes models used by Zelig... which I believe is merely calling MCMCpack. So one strategy, to which I am fixing to resort, is to call, say, MCMClogit with verbose set to mcmc (or mcmc divided by an integer) and then look at my screen.

Subsystem sftp invoked even though forced command created
This is a new branch of an old thread, made necessary because the email system here purges sent messages after a period of time so I can't reply to the last message in the thread. The operative portion of that last message (retrieved from the archives and dated July 3, 2023) follows: /*****/ So I set up a fresh key to use for this test, and gave it similar parameters. unable to compile xf86-video-nouveau
Greetings, After the modesetting commit, I have been unable to compile xf86-video-nouveau. The git site for drm given on the wiki page does not get the proper xf86drmMode.h, etc. I noted that libdrm git has over 100 branches and I really don't want to try all of them. Fedora 9 has a patch of the libdrm source rpm that includes an earlier version of xf86drmMode.h but it's now out of

Sipura SPA-941 not available after Asterisk & Freepbx upgrade
I'm experiencing a problem with a Sipura SPA-941 not available for incoming calls after Asterisk & Freepbx upgrade. I can dial out with the phone gto any other internal or external ext. It is registered with the Asterisk server. When I dial the Sipura directly from any other extension, it goes directly to vm. I have other Sip softphones that are working fine. A sip debug when calling the

Dtrace & thread deadlock detection
The way some DBs work is by having a separate lock monitor thread that runs every few seconds. This thread inspects a list of waiting locks for any cycles, which would indicate a circular relationship between processes holding locks & processes waiting for locks. The db then chooses a victim & kills one of the processes. (See "Inside MS SQL Server" by Delaney, pp778 for

Extremely poor ZFS perf and other observations
I''m observing the following behavior in our environment (Sol10U2, E2900, 24x96, 2x2Gbps, ...) - I''ve a compressed ZFS filesystem where I''m creating a large tar file. I notice that the tar process is running fine (accumulating CPU, truss shows writes, ...) but for whatever reason the timestamp on the file doesn''t change nor does the file size change. The same is
