DTrace provider for NFS
FYI, I posted a blog a few days ago about a DTrace provider for NFS that is currently in development: http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/samf?entry=a_dtrace_provider_for_nfs Let''s discuss any questions, comments, etc. here. I also advertised this on nfs-discuss at opensolaris.org. Naturally, I would expect the discussion here to be more on the specifics of DTrace, and the

determining raidz pool configuration
Hi all, Sorry for the newbie question, but I''ve looked at the docs and haven''t been able to find an answer for this. I''m working with a system where the pool has already been configured and want to determine what the configuration is. I had thought that''d be with zpool status -v <poolname>, but it doesn''t seem to agree with the

Dom0 issues: snv_79b and Tecra M9
Hi all, I have a Toshiba Tecra M9 and have not been able to boot it dom0. This is running SXDE 01/08, snv79b. After booting under kmdb and setting moddebug=80000000 before booting the Solaris kernel (with help from Dan Mick), I was able to see mac_ether as the last thing loading, right after loading the e1000g driver. I cannot drop into kmdb via F1-A after it hangs. I''ve also

how can we use libdtrace within the DTrace security restrictions?
Hi all, What is the correct way to give one non-root user the ability to use DTrace with providers running in a process by another user? Through the Web Stack project and some work by Ludovic Champenois and Nasser Nouri, we have done a bit of work to bring together parts of chime, the Web Stack Apache, Ruby and PHP providers, and stuff reused from the DTrace toolkit. It''s in

Solaris 10 FW/IPF in a Open Solaris dom/U?
I''m wondering if Open Solaris + xVM will allow me to do the following: I currently have 2 Solaris 10 servers sucking down electrons that I would like to consolidate into 2 xVM instances on a Solaris 11 quad core box. This is what it looks like: Internet --->A sol 10 FW/Web B>---->C Sol 10 app/mail D---> local LAN So interface A is connected to the Internet. The FW/Web box

Mozilla Dtrace and Tabs?
I use a lot of tabs and Firefox runs very slowly. I would like to figure out which tabs are eating up resources (cpu, memory, etc). Will the Mozilla dtrace framework be any help with this? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

getting extra characters with printf(copyin(a, b))
Hi, I have a situation where a DTrace script is printing out extra characters, despite the copyin() call giving a specific length. Can anyone think of why this might be? It''s fine the first time all of the probes fire, but on a second run of my generating operations, I get junk in there. For example: set setop length 5, FOUND KEY, STORED set setop length 5, FOUND KEY, STORED get

IO probes and forcedirectio
Hi, I''m working on some performance analysis with our database and it seems that when the file system (UFS) is mounted with forcedirectio, the IO probe are not triggered when an I/O event occurs. Could you confirm that ? If so, why ? Seb -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

ZFS questions with mirrors
IHAC that is asking the following. any thoughts would be appreciated Take two drives, zpool to make a mirror. Remove a drive - and the server HANGS. Power off and reboot the server, and everything comes up cleanly. Take the same two drives (still Solaris 10). Install Veritas Volume Manager (4.1). Mirror the two drives. Remove a drive - everything is still running. Replace the drive, everything

Some questions I had while testing ZFS.
I''m looking at bringing up a new Solaris 10 based file server running off an older UltraSPARC-IIi 360MHz with 512mb ram. I''ve brought up the 11/06 release from scratch no patches installed at this time. I have 4 externally attached 36gb scsi devices off the hosts systems scsi bus. After setting up a few different zpool scenarios with mirrors, raidz, raidz2 to familiarize

multipl disk failures cause zpool hang
Hi, There seems to be a few threads about zpool hang, do we have a workaround to resolve the hang issue without rebooting ? In my case, I have a pool with disks from external LUNs via a fiber cable. When the cable is unplugged while there is IO in the pool, All zpool related command hang (zpool status, zpool list, etc.), put the cable back does not solve the problem. Eventually, I

Hi all, I was intending on trying out gjournal on a new disk i've added in my desktop. high-pass filter issues
Hi, I am using 1.2beta2 on a C5416 doing narrowband in the decode function I am having a problem with the execution of my program vectoring off to random interrupts that are not used. I have tracked down the error to the highpass function called in nb_decode -very close to the end of the function-context: it is called here: ln 1719 for me if (st->highpass_enabled) highpass(out,

No Audio
I wrote a nice detailed post before, and then my mail program lost it for me... so here I go again... I've followed the same process with three different versions of asterisk, my local source copy from about 1 week ago CVS, current CVS from about 24 hours ago, and version 1.0.1, all three versions had identical results: I compiled/installed libpri, zaptel, asterisk I copied config file from

problems with PJSIP install on UBUNTU 14.04
Ok I did all that and it's still crashing. I did find some other areas I think that shouldn't have had any of those files, so I thought it would work, because I got rid of ALL of them per your instructions and completely reconfigured and compiled both pjsip and then asterisk. Attached is the new backtrace... -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces at lists.digium.com
