Restore a node in a replicating Gluster setup after data loss
Hi We have a Replica 2 + Arbiter Gluster setup with 3 nodes Server1, Server2 and Server3 where Server3 is the Arbiter node. There are several Gluster volumes ontop of that setup. They all look a bit like this: gluster volume info gv-tier1-vm-01 [...] Number of Bricks: 1 x (2 + 1) = 3 [...] Bricks: Brick1: Server1:/var/data/lv-vm-01 Brick2: Server2:/var/data/lv-vm-01 Brick3:

Syncing to multiple servers
Helle everyone, Let's say we have 3 servers, 2 of them have the latest (stable) version of rsyncd running (2.6.9) <Server1> ==> I N T E R N E T ==> <Server2 (rsyncd running)> ==> LAN ==> <Server3 (rsyncd running)> Suppose I want to send a big file (bigfile.big) from Server1 to both Server2 and Server3. It would be a good idea to send first from Server1

How to trigger a resync of a newly replaced empty brick in replicate config ?
Hi, I simplified the config in my first email, but I actually have 2x4 servers in replicate-distribute with each 4 bricks for 6 of them and 2 bricks for the remaining 2. Full healing will just take ages... for a just single brick to resync ! > gluster v status home volume status home Status of volume: home Gluster process TCP Port RDMA Port Online Pid

Self-heal's behavior: problem on "replace" -- it leaves garbage.
Hi. I'm using GlusterFS v1.3.12 (glusterfs-1.3.12.tar.gz) via FUSE (fuse-2.7.3glfs10.tar.gz) on CentOS 5.2 x86_64 (Linux kernel 2.6.18-92.el5) now. The nodes are HP Proliant DL360 G5 (as GlusterFS Client) and DL180 G5 (as GlusterFS Servers). And the connections are all TCP/IP on Gigabit ethernet. Then, I tested self-heal and I found a technical problem about "replace" -- self-heal

Replication -- multiple users, three or more servers?
I'm running Dovecot 2.2.1 on an Ubuntu 12.04.2 server, with half a dozen accounts for various family members. I want to set up replication involving at least three Ubuntu servers, with different users replicated on different sets of servers. For example, I might have mail for "user1" replicated on "server1", "server2", and "server3"... while mail for

SAMBA replies SAM LOGON request from different ip alias

Each of them has a several ip aliases, except by SERVER1 which has only primary ip numbers on its interfaces. When I try to join a new Windows client (XP SP3) to the domain. help troubleshooting inconsistencies in back up sizes
Hello list, I'll first describe my set up: server1 : live server server2 : backup server3 : backup of the backup so the data set is copied in this order server1->server2->server3 they are not done at the same time so there would be no collisions. I use this shell script to back up: for i in a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z `seq 0 9`; do

mixing tcp/ip and ib/rdma in distributed replicated volume for disaster recovery.
Hi, we would like to build a gluster storage systems that combines our need for performance with our need for disaster recovery. I saw a couple of posts indicating that this is possible (http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2010-February/003862.html) but am not 100% clear if that is possible Let's assume I have a total of 6 storage servers and bricks and want to spread them across 2

server max protocol appropriate values
Hi Gaiseric, Do you happen to run into any oplock(opportunistic locking) issues? On my DC I have these issues with my group policy files. I'm hopeful using smb 2.0 will fix this problem. Thanks. Samba - faster failover to other AD servers?
We just had an interesting experience here. One of our AD servers was down for 90 minutes due to the server being physically moved to another location. This shouldn?t be a problem since there are 5 other AD servers in that ?group? that can take over the load. However it seems Samba (when used as a fileserver) for some reason is taking quite a long time to ?give up? on the first one and switch to

samba 3.0.7 and os/2
Hello, samba v3.0.7 on suse linux v9.1 os/2 v4.x I have started the process of replacing our os/2 hosts with linux, starting with the server(s). Most of the problems have been firewall related, a topic only briefly discussed in the docs (nudge). Some of the hosts can now interact with the linux samba shares; not all though. I have run ip traces and have gotten to a point that is a
