Can the has_many create() method return an ID?
Hi all,
I have a has_many relationship, Cookbook :has_many Recipes
If I want to create a new recipe in my cookbook I do:
cookbook.recipes.create(data)
It would be nice if I could then easily get the id of the new recipe,
but the create() method doesn''t seem to return anything. Any ideas how?
Thanks in advance!

Create and then show
I am attempting to redirect to the show method after creating a new
object. So, for example, once a new post is created the user is
presented with the new post in a show view. The problem is I can''t get
the correct <at> post.id to send to the show method. Rails always
returns 0 for this value.
Here''s what I have so far:

sqlite sets a new model''s id to 0 after a save
Example:
car = Car.new
car.id # is nil
car.save
car.id # is 0
I''m wondering if this is expected behavior, or something wrong with
what I''m doing. If it is not expected behaviour, how do I go about
solving it?

Installing packages with R v.2.3.1 on MAC OS X -- Error: "Cannot chdir: No such file or directory"
Dear all,
I'm working on MAC OS X 10.4.7 using R version 2.3.1 (June 2006)
and platform powerpc-apple-darwin8.6.0. Since I installed the new
version of R I cannot install packages any more (but it worked fine
before) and get the following message every time. I can, however,
install packages from the command line if I get them as precompiled
binaries.

Importing data from clipboard on Mac OSX
Dear R users,
I am trying to get data from the clipboard into R on MacOSX. I tried
the following, but got an error message:
read.delim("clipboard")
Error in file(file, "r") : unable to open connection
In addition: Warning message:
unable to contact X11 display
Obviously, I'm not running R using X11. I'm wondering, can I import
data from the clipboard on MacosX?

NAs in optim
Hi,
I am trying to maximize a utility function using optim. I have a problem
with optim, since some of the values in the caw, mom, me and btm matrixes in
the code bellow are missing. Is there a handy way just to skip the missing
values in the loop?

b1 <- x[1]
b2 <- x[2]

Boolean circles..
Hi,
This is just kindof a RoR question, but since you all potentially do
the same things as I do, I thought I''ll ask here..
Im trying to use the boolean type in the database. Migrations is no
problem, it even converts the 0/1 values from my import CSV to false
and true.
However, I cannot make the :conditions part of a find work:

binomial lmer and fixed effects
Hi Folks,
I think I have searched exhaustively, including, of course R-help (D.
Bates, S. Graves, and others) and but I remain uncertain about
testing fixed effects with lmer(..., family=binomial).
I gather that mcmcsamp does not work with Do we rely exclusively on z
values of model parameters, or could we use anova() with likelihood
ratios, AIC and BIC, with (or without)
