in_place_editor_field submitOnBlur & okButton=false options?
I have a few in_place_editor_fields working fine. I can access some of
the script.aculo.us options such as :cols, :save_text, :cancel_text, but
how do I access the okButton = false & submitOnBlur options? Basically,
I want no submit button, a cancel button, and the ability to submit when
I tab out of the field.
Is this doable without writing a helper? (avoiding digging that deep so

InPlaceSelectEditor question
I''m attempting to use the example given in the Rails Recipes book chapter 2,
to create a select drop-down using the InPlaceEditor function (modified to
be InPlaceSelectEditor.
The example given works (a country list drop-down), but I''m attempting to
use it to display a list of items generated from an object in another table
that is linked to the table that I''m editing.

changing the style of in_place_editor_field
Hi...
I''m using in_place_editor_field. I want to change the default style of
in_place_editor_field. I need to apply another style for the label, the
yellow and white highlighting color.
I tried
<%= in_place_editor_field :ci_class, :name, {:id => @ci_class.id},
{:highlightcolor => "#FF0000"} %>
But this is not working. Please help me to change its style.

in_place_collection_editor
Hi,
I''m trying to write a helper for Scriptaculous'' InPlaceCollectionEditor
component. I''ve already submitted a patch
(http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4302). This was a drunk patch; it
needs a bit of work (Don''t drink & code!). So far I''ve gotten it to work
correctly with normal collections, but I want to use it for belongs_to
relations as

Autocompleting InPlaceEditor
Hi,
I''ve created some extensions to script.aculo.us InPlaceEditor, allowing
the use of either server-driven, or local autocompletion. I''ve also
created new helper methods in Rails for this functionality.
My question is, is there any interest that I package this and make it
available as a plugin, or something like that?

RJS - not working in IE
I searched thru all the postings about RJS, and I didn''t find one person
who complained of problems specific to IE, but that''s what I''ve got.
My environment is:
Rails 1.0 + RJS Plugin
Updated Javascripts to Scriptaculous 1.5.3 (for evalScripts support)
Monkeypatched in_place_editor to support evalScripts
I have just started using RJS, and I have two .rjs templates.

Minor fix for Ajax.InPlaceEditor
controls.js line 471:
Where it says:
new Effect.Highlight(element, {startcolor: this.options.highlightcolor});
can we change it to:
new Effect.Highlight(element, {startcolor:
this.options.highlightcolor, endcolor:
this.options.highlightendcolor});
.
Otherwise, it''ll use the default #FFFFFF to finish the highlight which
doesn''t look right when #FFFFFF doesn''t match

In_place_editor in a For loop
I''m using Ajax to create a list of items. Once these items have been
created the user can edit in place and delete them. I''ve got the ajax
working for delete and removing the element from the page, but the
in_place_editor_field doesn''t seem to like being in a for loop. I''ve
got in_place_editor working for single items, but what''s the syntax

IN-PLACE FORM EDITING
Ive been following the rails recipes (great book) and wanted to have a
larger a text field when editing in place.
The chapter it mentions that I can "force the InPlaceEditor to create
either a text ?eld or a <textarea> ?eld, using the :rows option to
in_place_editor_?eld( ). Then any value greater than 1 will tell
InPlaceEditor to generate a <textarea>." It

autocompletion: hooking ''afterUpdateElement'' in Rails
Hi everyone,
I need to trigger a Rails action after the autocompletion is completed
(when the user has selected an option).
From the scriptaculous doc, I figured out ''afterUpdateElement'' is the
place to be but I wonder if/how and where I can hook my javascript code
to this event in Rails code (I''d like to keep using the helper, if
possible)?
I tried passing many

Setting empty fields with in_place_editor_field
Hi all!
Playing around with in_place_editor_field, I found that when you set a
field to be empty, you can''t edit it at all anymore after that. Am I
doing something wrong or is this the way it is intended to be? If so, is
there any way around that behaviour? Is it just styling?
Best regards,
Raphael

session[:return_to] for going back.
Hi,
Is session[:return_to] something Rails maintains to quickly go back to the
previous uri without having to keep track of the action name? Or, do we
have to actually set it in our actions?
Thanks.

InPlaceEditor refreshes only the element that was updated. Is there
any way to make it update tons of other stuff ?

Using "in_place_editor_options" for script.aculo.us options?
I was just learning about the "in_place_editor_field" tag when
reading thru RAILs Recipes.
What is "in_place_editor_options" for???? I was hoping after reading
the script.aculo.us documentation that I could do something like this.
<%= in_place_editor_field :contact, column.name, {:tag => ''div''},
{ :cancelText => ''Never

script.aculos.us and the in_place_editor
Hi there,
I''ve been trying incorporate the in_place_editor, but have had no luck
so far. I read the Ajax.In Place editor wiki on script.aculos.us which
was informing, but still left me wondering about a few things.
Here''s what I''m trying to do. A user has a profile page which lists
their name, age, homepage, etc... There is no form on this page...

In place editing on a list - not passing ID through
I want to do in-place edits on a list of data, but I''m having trouble
getting the ID passed through to the controller.
I use this in my view to create the field:
<% for frame in @frames %>
...
<%= in_place_editor_field :frame, :price %>
<% end %>
and this produces the following in my output:
<span class="in_place_editor_field"
