Rails keeps adding the letter s to the MySQL tablename.
I followed this tutorial for Ruby on Rails...
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html?page=1
Everything went fine. I created the DB in MySQL and tested the
recipe/new and recipe/list functions, and all went smooth.
Now I''m trying to use Ruby on Rails to track software licenses here at
work and I keep running into this strange problem. I am setting up the
DB,

Mysql::Error in RecipeController#new
Hi,
I''m doing the following tutorial

That''s strange because the database.yml file is defined with a password

New R website: R-Cookbook.com
R Community,
I've put together a website that I thought this mailing list might be
interested in: http://www.r-cookbook.com
It's a (free) community-driven content management system for R
"recipes", or working examples. Some of the features of the site are
code highlighting, recipe ratings, recipe comments, personal "recipe

I''ve been reading lot of material about Ruby on Rails, and it looks like

Can the has_many create() method return an ID?
Hi all,
I have a has_many relationship, Cookbook :has_many Recipes
If I want to create a new recipe in my cookbook I do:
cookbook.recipes.create(data)
It would be nice if I could then easily get the id of the new recipe,
but the create() method doesn''t seem to return anything. Any ideas how?
Thanks in advance!

categories/recipes & books/descriptions - has_many vs has_one => id question
People,
In the cookbook eg, categories has_many recipes but in a book eg, book
has_one description - doesn''t that mean that the id of the description
should be the same as the id of the book (instead of having it''s own
"description_id" in the book table?
Thanks,
Phil.

Tests just deleted my production Database!!! PLEASE
When you run your functional tests, rake wipes the "test" database clean and
recreates it based on what is in the "development" database. Since it
appears you are using the same database for both, that would explain why you
lost your data. In addition, if you omit the data needed to access the
development database you will get an error like you described, because

I''m following the ONLamp.com tuturial and all has been well untill
changing the template for the recipes. I have followed the instructions
and added this code to the controller:
class RecipeController < ApplicationController
scaffold :recipe
def list
@recipes = Recipe.find_all
end
