More questions about audit
Hello, Freebsd-security.
I'm grepping all sources for programs, which support audit and found
strange thing:
find . -name '*.c*' -print | \
grep -v -E '^./(sys|contrib/openbsm|tools/regression)' | \
xargs grep -E "\<(audit|au_)"
shows, that only login(1), su(1), id(1) and sshd(1) uses audit. And
even sshd(8) raise question: it doesn't call

uchcom and RELENG_7?
Hi,
Is there any reason why uchcom[1] hasn't been MFC'ed to RELENG_7 yet?
I see discussion[2] about this subject as far back as around
7.0-release, but I can't find any uchcom.c files in my src, not even
for latest RELENG_7.

Closing information leaks in jails?
Hello,
I'm wondering about closing some information leaks in FreeBSD jails from
the "outside world".
Not that critical (depends on the application), but a simple user, with
restricted devfs in the jail (devfsrules_jail for example from
/etc/defaults/devfs.rules) can figure out the following:
- network interfaces related data, via ifconfig, which contains
everything, but the

RELENG_7 jerky mouse and skipping sound
I just updated to RELENG_7 from 6.2 and I'm running into some really
annoying issues with jerky mouse movement and skipping sound. This
seems to be similar to:
Re: SCHED_4BSD in RELENG_7 disturbs workflow
This happens both with 4BSD and ULE.
I seems to happen when I'm compiling ports and a new cc/bzip2/sh
process fires off (I'm just watching top), I'll get the
skip/freezeup.

7.0 issues fixed? upgrade timing?
1. I have a realtek network card and am using a cable modem router. Does anyone know if fixes for problems with these (see below) have been backported from HEAD to RELENG_7?
2. Is this a good time to upgrade to RELENG_7?
3. I read a post last week that advised that 7.1 is a long way off. Appreciate any advice on use of ULE 3.0 and ZFS prior to 7.1 and a comment on what is holding up 7.1.
Thanks

imapc tries to fetch uid 0
Hi,
This is a capture from an imapc client session (which is triggered by a

2 OK LOGIN succeeded
1 LIST "" ""

AMD64 vs i386, ifstat and bsnmp
Couple of little things I noticed with a new RELENG_7 AMD64 box (as
of yesterday)
ifstat from the ports cannot seem to find interfaces for some reason
? It works fine on i386
[ns8]# ifstat -b
ifstat: no interfaces to monitor!

Filtering jail IP traffic
Hi,
IP traffic from one jail to another jail, arrives on destination jail on
lo0 having the destination jails IP as source IP. Why not the source
jail's IP address?
How can I filter traffic from one jail to another, using ipfw of ipf?
Cheers,

imapc fetch optimization
Hi,
imapc does a lot of UID FETCH $UID (BODY.PEEK[]), which is nice, because
it works even with the dumbest IMAP server, altough it really kills
performance, especially on high latency lines.
I wonder: if IMAP servers can effectively handle boundless fetches (like
a list with all wanted UIDs, or simply 1:* if all are needed), do you
see this as a good addition to develop?
This could be a

RFC: HTTP based storage API
Hi,
Nearly every popular programming language has an LMTP/POP/IMAP
implementation, most of them suck in many different ways.
I don't know any server or library which provides a well-established,
compatible protocol frontend with an open backend API, which could be
used to easily make a custom storage backend for the LMTP/POP/IMAP
frontend in any language, in any programming paradigm,
