I just wants to thank the developers (s) of syslinux , and eventually the construction of your well explained HOWTO I am rather a newbie in informatics , but after several months (!) of efforts, training at learning and experimenting with the terminal & command line writing, I finally got succeful at creating a partedmagic live USB. the last step was rather creepy: I thought I had at last

PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
I've just tried 4.07 and that has the same results. I should note that I appear to be in error about things working OK with menu.c32 as opposed to vesamenu.c32 - I do indeed see the menu (which with vesamenu.c32 it does not get that far), but when I attempt to choose the Windows Deployment Services option, it hangs. Thanks, Dan Jackson (Lead ITServices Technician). -----Original

PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
Hello, I'm experiencing an issue where if I use vesamenu.c32 with PXELINUX 6.03 when network booting a virtual machine hosted on VMware ESXi 6.0, it hangs (the version message is printed and then nothing - the VM has to be powered off and back on again). This happens no matter if I choose the E1000 network interface or the VMXNET3 network interface when creating the VM. The same problem

PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
Hello, Thanks very much for your suggestions. I have double checked that all .c32 files are from the same version of syslinux. What I don't know - I only put those .c32 files I have in there on the basis of trial and error - is what .c32 files are actually needed for menu.c32 and/or vesamenu.c32. I thought perhaps there might be a .c32 file missing that I needed to put in there (though

CentOS to reside near a NTFS system
Hello there, the *old* PC (Turion 64 MT-32 800MHz, 1Gb RAM) of my gf is running Windows XP, and I plan on installing a CentOS beside of it, allowing her to select the OS at boot-time. Other system/OS installing options are not retained, please avoid ;-). My first attempt was to install the CentOS7 GNOME-Live on a USB flashdisk and to boot it on the machine. It was either freezing at grub stage

centos 6.8 creates install to sde instead of sda
greetings one and all. when attempting to install centos 6.8 to an i386 mid tower, during setup of hard disk partitions, selection is for /dev/sde. if continued, after reboot, error is displayed after 'welcome to centos'. lines read: Checking filesystem fsck.ext4: no such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sda3 /dev/sda3: The superblock could not be read or does not describe a

PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
Just tested with the latest VirtualBox and that works OK, so it's definitely something specific to ESXi 6.0.0 (it worked previously under 5.x ESXi versions). chain loading Syslinux 3.86 from 6.04
Thanks. That gets me further. Syslinux 4.07 loads from Syslinux 6.04 now. For some reason though it reread D:\syslinux.cfg instead of D:\ESXi\syslinux.cfg . I don't see the directive that tells Syslinux(4) to look in the sub directory for syslinux.cfg instead of the root. The only thing (right now) I can see that is different, is my D:\syslinux.cfg is one file while yours loads other files

I assume it's not possible to store a copy of the LDLINUX.SYS binary at the end or inside of either ISOLINUX.BIN or LDLINUX.C32 then? Then at least it could be extracted, for those distributions not having LDLINUX.SYS / SYSLINUX(64).EXE present on their CD. Having

enhanced config.c32 module
For UBCD, we have a lot of config files. Isolinux will load /boot/isolinux/isolinux.cfg, which will load /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg Syslinux will load /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg, which will load /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg The /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg loads several other config files when you select the appropriate menu. From all those menus you can go back to
