winbind hang
Hello We are running several Red Hat 7 servers as domain members using AD for winbind idmap backend and it had been working fine (no sssd is configured either) The last month or so (possibly since the latest samba-winbind package update we applied on Sep 24), server ssh logins on several servers hang on occasion, until a winbind restart, when it all works again Since this is the Red Hat

WInbind hang?
I've had that happen in the past with non-RedHat linux boxes. Fortunately we have Saltstack on all the boxes and can just salt '*' cmd.run 'killall -SIGKILL winbindd; service winbind restart' But it hangs SSH sessions and things like 'ls -lha' that need to resolve usernames and groups. i.e. if you removed winbind from /etc/nsswitch.conf it would stop happening. Samba 4.9.3 and the "10 hour problem"
Hmm… I see that there is a patch in the bugzilla page for that bug. I guess I could try that one… :-) I notice in the patch that there is a lot of talk about SMB2 - we use SMB3 mostly now. But perhaps there is some code sharing? Or perhaps SMB2 is used when talking to the AD servers? Or the few SMB2-talking clients causes the problem for all of the other users? When testing the “timeout” issue I

Hi, first of all i'm sorry for my english. I'm trying to create a print server in the same server that has the samba AD but i cannot make it work. For now i've: - A working AD server with Samba 4.2.5 - A Cups server with the print drivers - GPO policies to install the printers in the client computer All works perfect and even i can send test pages from cups, but i cannot

It's already done. I did a lot of tests, installed testing packages... and y prefer to start with a clean system. Anyway was an empty domain with only an user. I'll report how it works ;) Greetings!! Bad Password
Everyone, I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers. On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of times. I am 100% confident I am

Problem with SPNEGO on full trust 2016 DC <> Samba 4.10.7 AD
I've read the documentation that domain trusts should be fully supported with both Kerberos and NTLM authentication. I've created a new 2016 domain on a Windows box and created a Samba domain on a Linux box with a BIND9_DLZ backend. Both servers can resolve both DNS domains forwards and backwards and I am able to connect a Windows 10 client to the Samba domain without any issues. The

FreeBSD, Libmd5, samba 4.9.4 & "smbclient -L" (using password) -> core dump
I just noticed that smbclient from Samba 4.9.4 /built by myself) on FreeBSD 11.2 coredumps when called like this: smbclient -L <hostname> > % /liu/pkg/samba/4.9.4-liu/bin/smbclient -L filur00 > Enter username at AD.LIU.SE's password: > Abort (core dumped) … if it is linked against /usr/local/lib/libmd5.so (which is part of “libwww”). If I remove libmd5.so and recompile

Also seeing high winbindd CPU usage
I think somebody had a similar problem (also on Solaris), but that thread seemed to die. I've compiled (with Sun Studio cc) and installed samba-3.2.1 on a Solaris 10 x64 box, which is a member of a (Windows Server 2003 controlled) domain. I previously had samba 3.0.28a running on the same machine without any problems. Now winbindd is eating up all of the CPU (on the CPU it's assigned

Winbind timeouts/hangs(?)
Hello group, I'm hitting a problem where group resolution through winbind seems to time out sometimes, which in turn causes invalid group information to propagate to Cronjob users or similar. The profiling information that winbind spits out is the following: [2019/08/22 14:34:14.809540, 0] ../source3/winbindd/winbindd.c:1058(winbind_client_processed) winbind_client_processed: request

winbindd/mod_auth_ntlm_winbind.so fail to use workstation credentials (NTLM+SPNEGO)
Hallo, We protect linux/apache server with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind.so to authenticate users with their domain accounts. The server is joined into windows domain (Windows 2003 Server). Apache/mod_auth_ntlm_winbind.so is configured for NTLM+SPNEGO authentication. So far users can login when providing valid credentials. Users login into their windows workstation (Windows XP SP2 IE/Firefox) with
