ext3 incompatability between linux 2.4/ppc and linux 2.6/x86
Hi,
I'm using ext3 filesystems in embedded devices (storage is on 512Mb or
1Gb CF cards). A typical development cycle would see the filesystem
created on the desktop PC running linux 2.4 (eg. RedHat 9). The CF card
would be installed in the hardware and linux 2.4 (eg. Montavista Pro
3.1, on PPC) would boot from the CF.
Recently I tried a linux 2.6 desktop (CentOS) for the same task and

FC5: "ext_attr" and "large_file" features for ext3 file systems ???
Hi,
Fedora Core ext3 file systems newbie questions:
Just interested in the Linux ext3 features but got
confused with "large_file" and "ext_attr".
First, what's the "large_file" feature REALLY means?
For file systems created with same commands and
options some file systems have it on while some not.
It is said that the feature is automatic -- If there

xulrunner 1.9.2.26 available in repackaged form for use with legacy programs
I have re-packaged xulrunner 1.9.2.26 for CentOS 5 for use with older
applications which can't be run with xulrunner 10.0.4. I created
'compatibity' RPMs that can be safely installed alongside xulrunner
10.0.4. I needed it to run the Evergreen 2.1 and 2.2 Staff Clients at
our local library. The RPMs are available in the Deepwoods Software
repo at the URL:

Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings broken under xen 3.0.3-142.el5_9.1 / 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5xen?
I am not sure what I did, but for some reason Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings are
broken on 64-bit xen desktop machine (but not on my laptop (32-bit, no
xen)). Both machines are (mostly) up-to-date and running CentOS 5.9.
I rarely hop to different Virtual Consoles (eg Ctrl-Alt-F1 ...
Ctrl-Alt-F7), but today I wanted to go to the main console to watch
some kernel verbage (I was checking something with

Hello,
How to upgrade existing ext3 partition to new features? Moved from
RHEL3 to RHEL4.
I had to install from c0d0p6 so partition could not be reformated during
install.
Thanks,

TRIPPLITE OMNIVSINT80 Compatibility
Using this UPS in the UK on 240V mains.
Connected via USB:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 09ae:0001 Tripp Lite
Requires tripplite_usb driver as it is (Product ID: 0001). There is an
entry in the compatibity list for OMNIVS800 USB (protocol 2012) using
usbhid-ups which is little misleading (although I guess maybe correct
for some instances of the UPS).
OMNIVS1000 USB (older; product ID: 0001) is

How are alternate superblocks repaired?
Hi,
Using dumpe2fs I have been able to determine that all of my alternate ext3 superblocks are corrupted (not clean), and only the primary superblock is valid, i.e. mount works and the ordered journal is applied. When the primary superblock gets flakey, i.e. the ext_attr Filesystem feature goes missing - not sure why this occurs. At this point, the mount does not apply the journal using the

3.62-pre16: Compiling on old (2.4 kernel) distros
I have put a compile hack in for older distros and pushed it out as
syslinux-3.62-pre16; for those who have reported compilation problem on
older distros I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm if it
works now (it worked for me on a CentOS 3.9 VM.)

no dentry for non-root inode
hi!
One of our user removed a directory through samba and right after that
recreated it.
It looks like this now:

Gluster version is 3.2.2-1ubuntu~ppa1~lucid1 on client (samba server)
and the same but Natty on the nodes. It was upgraded from 3.2.1.
What is this? If a client try to access it, it freezes up.

(offtopic) I need two sets of 5 different color scales
Hi,
I am plotting a policy function (result from a dynamic stochastic
optimization problem, discretized approximation). The policy function
maps from an 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x B x F state space to a B x F state space
(B and F are usually between 4-6, and represent domestic and foreign
savings. The other variables are income (Y), inflation (Pi), domestic
and foreign interest rates (R and Z)). I

File size differences
Hey,
I have two identical machines setup with a RAID 5 array. One of them is used for
failovers and data from the master is synced everyday using rsync to the
failover machine. The data on this disks are usually intranet KB's, DB's etc..
The RAID 5 arrays are formatted using the default options i,e mkfs.ext3
/dev/Xda. The RAID controller is 3ware escalade and each disk member in the RAID
