[PATCH] nsd-patch: fix segfault after renaming slave zone
Hi all, we have discovered a segfault in nsd-patch when renaming slave zone in nsd config file if some data for this zone still exists in the IXFR diff database. In my case, the zone "black" was renamed to "blackinwhite": > root at ggd115:/cage/nsd/var/nsd/zones#nsd-patch -c > /cage/nsd/etc/nsd-dns-slave.conf > reading database > reading updates to database >

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone, I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log message (which is quite explicit :-) Sep 28 16:55:36 srvads samba[27900]: [2016/09/28 16:55:36.819666,

New Windows 8 RSAT and "OU=Domain Controllers" support?
Hello, We have two DCs. One runs Windows 2003 R2, and the other Samba 4.0.5. Forest functional level is Windows 2000 native. I recently demoted (worked flawlessy now, which was a great relief), rebuilt and re-promoted my Samba 4 DC, as my problems that I posted to this list about two monts were still unresolved (see https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-February/171898.html), and I thoght

Samba 4 "Services for UNIX"? [SOLVED]
To get the automount schema to work with the git checkout of samba 4 I had to modify the automount schema files and separate the attributes from the classes. I also discovered that it's required to have the ntSecurityDescriptor , instanceType, and objectCategory attributes. Without these it will crash whenever you try to browse... I did alot of stopping samba, tarring of /usr/local/samba and

second DC behavior when first switched off
Hello all, I'm always trying to migrate from W2000 server to Samba 4. For doing this, I tried this : - install a W2003 server with AD and DNS services, join it to W2000, transfer roles and after demote the old W2000 -> done - install a Sernet Samba4 with Bind9, join W2003, transfer all 7 roles -> done ( thanks to Rowland ) the sync process is working well in two way, I can manage

Samba 4 schema upgrade.
Hello, We achieved our Domain Migration from Windows 2003 R2 server to Samba 4.2.3 (sernet binaries). Now Samba 4 is the only domain controller. When we use ADUC and click on Domain Controllers we have an error. At the same time if we have a look at de syslog messages on the server, we can see "ldb: acl_read: CN=SERVER,OU=Domain Controllers,DC=DOMAIN,DC=com cannot find attr[msDS-isRODC] in

How To Expand an .erb Template Without Doing a Full Puppet Run?
We use puppet to distribute named zone files, like many of you do. We use git to maintain these files, which are then pulled by the puppet master machine. These zone files are actually puppet template .erb files. The other day, I made a mistake which resulted in some zone files with syntax errors in them. Puppet faithfully distributed the erroneous zone files to the name servers, which killed

dsdb_access Access check failed on CN=Configuration
Poking around on this further, I believe the LMHOSTS error does not matter. The smb directive "name resolve order" defaults to "lmhosts wins host bcast" -- so I believe the file no found error is just because it's trying lmhosts first, not finding the file and then moving on. Eventually it hits "host" resolution and uses /etc/hosts to resolve the name. Changing
