select or select_tag ?
hello PPL,
I''ve seen now that the _form.rhtml generated by script/scaffold is
populated by
<%= text_field ''model'', ''field'' %> without _tag!
but only text_field_tag is to be found in the 1.1.2 documentation..
(like in the rest of Module ActionView::Helpers::FormTagHelper there
is _tag)
I''ve tried to use <%= select instead of

Oh well, that didn't reveal much! The pointer is not anything crazy,
and in fact its value is one that didn't crash before. I was hoping
maybe for something obviously weird.

Strange message log from ldapsam_search_one_group()
Hello,
I've a Debian 3.1 box with Samba 3.0.9 acting as a PDC with OpenLDAP
2.1.30, libdbd-4.2.52, smbldap-tools 0.8.5, libnss-ldap version 220-1.
Sometimes I get a burst of 20-30 messages with the same timestamp
like these:
[2005/01/30 19:17:43, 0, pid=13107, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_search_one_group(1982)

Truncate function and html tags
I have a text field in the db for the body of user posts. Users
submit the posts using the tinymce editor, which allows certain html
tags. The posts are stored in the db with allowed html tags directly
in the post, so I could have something like:
<p>This post will try to eliminate the confusion regarding rails and
the truncate function.</p>
I am trying to display the first 300

Plotting the mean of data
Hi all!
I've got a datstructure like this:
subject week value
1 1 4
2 1 8
3 1 3
4 1 5
1 2 5
2 2 6
3 2 2
4 2 6
1 3 3
2 3 7
3 3 3
4 3 7
I'd like to plot the mean of 'value' against week. Is there a direct way
of doing this or do I have to make a new structure with the calculated
values and then plot it?
All the best!

Help ! Effect vs Ajax in script.aculo.us
Hi everybody,
For me the most interesting of Effects is to do a visual effect will
doing an ajax request
because the user didn''t think that he is waiting for something.
So, In a timeout function, I create an Effect and an AJAX call:
...
Effect.MoveBy( ... );
...
Then do an AJAX Call
...
setTimeout(function(){
getJsonRPC().callMyFunction();
},30);

How to use validation with aggregation (composed_of)?
At the risk of being banned for posting the same question twice, I
thought I''d try once more with a question for the title rather than a
statement (on the basis that perhaps questions get answered and
statements ignored ;-) )
ActiveRecord supports composed_of for value objects which is
fantastic but one thing that it doesn''t seem to support (or at least

Space between axis label and tick labels
I'm writing an publication in two column format and need to shrink some
plots. After increasing the axis labels it does not look nice at all.
The y-axis label and tick labels almost touch each other and the x-axis
tick labels expand into the plot instead of away from it. Is there a
better way than "cex" to control the:
1) font size of axis and tick labels
2) font thickness

acts_as_leashed, my first 'plug-in'
Hey!
Have you ever had the feeling that that source code you have just
deployed could be copy-pasted and reused with the help a front-end guy
without your authorization? I do! So I wrote a (ridiculous) line of
code that triggers an external ''alert'' application that "calls home"
in case of need.. I put this in a tiny plug-in, what do you think?
Probably a gem version

Replication -O3 optimizations manually
Hi Zide,
I think I found the right way to reach my goal.
I used the following command:
clang -O3 -Xclang -disable-llvm-optzns main.c -S -emit-llvm -o main.ll
to generate an IR file enriched by all the metadata that otherwise wouldn't be generated with -O0. Moreover, -disable-llvm-optzns flag ensures that none of the optimization passes has been applied yet to the IR.
In this way, I can
