Machine Upgraded & smbd/nmbd won't start
Hi all. Running 2.0.4b on a (now) solaris 2.6 box. Since the upgrade the smbd & nmbd daemons won't start. I tried starting smbd by hand, running it through truss. Here's the last few lines: getuid() = 0 [0] fstat(3, 0xEFFFF858) = 0 write(3, " [", 1) = 1 write(3, " 1 9 9 9 / 0

SWAT status report wrong
I just installed 2.0.4b on both of my Sun E4000's. The one is running fine. The other seems to be running fine too except SWAT reports that *mbd are _not_ running when they are. Moreover, the status page lists all the active connections while listing the daemons as not running. Stopping|starting|restarting does what is supposed to do but the status of the daemons is still listed as not

No connect to/from other machines on remote ethernet
Hi all, I have finally got tinc working, but it?s only between server/client. Client can receive broadcast packets from server ethernet, and pings between them is fine. If I ping tinc client(192.168.88.166) from any machine in my server lan, 192.168.88.0/24, all packets timed out, and nothing received by the client. Any ideas? Thanks! Unable to get IP address from DHCP on remote end.
Hi all, I followed the guide "simple-bridging-with-dhcp", which has two parts: http://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/simple-bridging-with-dhcp-server-side/ http://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/simple-bridging-with-dhcp-client-side/ I have altered two things to fit my needs, 1) DHCP server(host:pek1) is on client side ethernet, so I have bridged eth0 and tun1 together; 2) Network/Server/Client

I also tested it with self-compiled bind-9.7.4b1. I used the Samba4/HOWTO http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO I smoothly joined my AD with a Win7 Client. updated samba 4.18 & 4.17 packages for debian & ubuntu to address trust issue with windows 10/11 update 07/2023
Thanks Michael for doing this, I've used your patch ( fix-unsupported-netr_LogonGetCapabilities-l2.patch ) to also update my RHEL8 packages for 4.17.9 ( [1] ). With this patch of yours and these rpms the trusted connection shows up as 'Good' as it was previously. As usual, if anyone's interested in providing feedback for these rpms, I'll gladly take it. Raspberry as AD Server
Hi, i have a working Samba AD with 2 DCs based on Version 4.15.7-Debian and Debian 10. The main Problem was Lack of Win 11 Support (beginning with a certain update) So the goal was to switch to backports and samba Version 4.17.9-Debian. But this does not work on 32bit Pi OS. So i tested this weekend the following combination: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 Linux sdc01 6.1.21-v8+

Correction. This is not my patch, this is a patch by Stefan Metzmacher (and I kept his name in there in this file), which is available at the samba bug about

vfs ChDir failed: Permission denied
Just upgraded a file server to Samba 4.17.9-Debian and Bullseye (Debian 11). Noticed that am now getting a number of errors in the smbd log: 'chdir_current_service: vfs_Chfir (a-directory) failed. Permission Denied uid=................ The uid on all the entries seems to correspond to a computer/machine account if I look it up with 'wbinfo --uid-info'. Thoughts? Thank you

Migration of files with Windows ACL's to Samba server
Hi there, It might that this question was already answered but I can't really find any proper documentation for this. I am in a process of migrating about 70T of files from our Win2016 storage server to a Samba (2:4.17.9+dfsg-0+deb12u3) server. Whilst doing this I want to preserve all the ACL's which were set on Windows shares. Is there any related documentation around this topic how to

Should upsd abort if one if LISTEN addresses is not available?
Cheers all, Issue https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issues/723 was brought up recently, and I've re-verified it with the current codebase that it still happens. The crux of it is that if upsd can LISTEN to some but not all addresses, it aborts because "no listening interface available" and worse - does so inconsistently (seems to depend on whether the *first* listed
