Rserve compilation error
Hi, I am trying to install Rserve 1.7-0 on CentOS 6. But I get this compilation error - /usr/lib64/Revo-5.0/R-2.13.2/lib64/R/lib/libiomp5.so: undefined reference to `pthread_atfork' I tried other versions of Rserve (0.6-5 and 0.6-8) without any success. How do I get around this issue? My goal is to run FastRWeb (which uses Rserve). Thanks in advance. Joydeep. -- View this message in

Testing for Windows malware under Wine
After using Linux for some time, I realized that this might be another good use for wine. I've been seeing the commercials for PC SpeedScan by Ascentive and have even been asked about it by non-techie friends. Since my Ubuntu system isn't real mission critical, I decided to throw caution to the winds and installed the 'product'. One behavior of malware is that it purposely does

umount oops
Hi, I tried very promising btrfs to test it a little and I experienced a little bug in implementation. I''m not sure where the bug lies however this works quite well to reproduce the problem: dd if=/dev/zero of=mountme bs=4k count=100000 dd if=/dev/zero of=mountme2 bs=4k count=100000 mkfs.btrfs mountme mkfs.btrfs mountme2 mkdir loop loop2 mount -o loop mountme loop mount -o loop mountme

Vignette using parallel's makeCluster function has trouble building on Windows 7
Hi, all-- I've been working on a doParallel package to provide a foreach parallel backend for the new parallel package, but I am having trouble building the vignette. On my system, if I use the following minimal vignette (call it buggyVignette.Rnw): \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \title{Sweave Example 1} \author{Rich Calaway} \begin{document} \maketitle In this example

Debate: Shall some of Microsoft R Open Code be ported to mainstream R?
I think the thing that is missing is a simple way for end users on windows to replace blas/lapack libraries with MKL-a package that you install that puts the libraries in the right place. Microsoft provides something for their distro, but we don't have the equivalent if you get R from cran. On 29 October 2017 at 22:01, Kenny Bell wrote: | User here: incorporating Intel's MKL, as MRO

revolution mkl with R 3.01 on Ubuntu 13.04
So I have two Dell power-edge machines running latest Ubuntu (13.04) with latest version of R (3.01). I installed revolution-mkl on one machine (T-410) and it works fine. On the second machine (T-620), it says the latest version of revolution-mkl is installed, but I'm getting no multi-processor functioning (R-benchmark-25.R) runs on a single processor and takes same amount of time

Sangoma U100 failing every Monday - USB port problem or Wanrouter issue?

The units work beautifully except for Monday :-) It maybe a conincedence or maybe the fact that Saturday/Sunday is off and something happens where one of these U100 modules goes into sleep and that's when all the 4 Dahdi channels are lost. So, I have been getting Monday

Special BLAS and explcit parallel code
Hi I just read the thread on gotoBLAS, as well as the excellent vignette of gcbd. I still have some confusion and would like to ask very basic questions, hope I am not taking too much of your time. The point that retained my attention was the question of using implicit (multi-threaded blas) versus explicit (parallel code) optimisation. As I understood, the ideal would be to use a
