Ubuntu 18:04 not getting 'home' directory from DC
Thank you for your reply.
First I am using 'ad' backend (DC config is in first post below) and
until I did a fresh install of a new DC Samba 4.8.2 on Ubuntu 18.04 the
user/group id, shell, and home directory paths were correctly obtained
from the RSAT UNIX Attribute Tab settings on the DC. It seems that is
still working for users already created with existing home directories

Ubuntu 18:04 not getting 'home' directory from DC
Thank You Louis and Rowland for your help,
Seems samba version in Ubuntu 18.04 was the key, (Samba version 4.7.6-Ubuntu).
I was using an old smb.conf that has always worked on my Ubuntu 16.04 workstations:
[global]
realm = XX.DOMAIN.COM
workgroup = XX
security = ADS
dedicated keytab file = /etc/krb5.keytab
kerberos method = secrets and keytab
idmap config *:backend = tdb

Fwd: Re: Ubuntu 18:04 not getting 'home' directory from DC
Sorry for the delayed response,
Louis,
I'm not sure how to tell about having "cifs/UPN" - Please advise.
I was able to mount with sec=krb5 after the user is logged in but that does not help getting "home" mounted during the login.
But here is where I am now:
I have been able to pam_mount "home" during the login but could not get the ACLs during the mount

Ubuntu 18:04 not getting 'home' directory from DC
Rowland,
How would I find this info?
Check if 'Rachel Jones' has a 'gecos' attribute in AD.
You seem to be being denied access to '.Xauthority', was it created on
another machine ? No
However, I am sure '-13' usually means incorrect password.
I am sure the password is correct, the /mnt/home/rachel folder is created
but the user files are not created because

I downloded it from

What kernel version? If your kernel is 2.6 then get this patch:

multiple domain served by Samba
Dear All,
I have a working Samba AD for my company (company.intranet) under
Debian/GNU. Now I'm requested to create a domain for another company.
Can I use the same server with the same Samba for multiple domain? Can
same samba serve parallel the company.intranet (with company\user) and
the othercompany.intranet (othercompany\user) domains? May I just run
the samba-tool provision to

covariance matrix of model parameters
I am applying a hidden markov model on joint multivariate gaussian
distribution for 2 vectors. I am using the depmixS4 package in R.
Specifically, I am using the following code:
mod<-depmix(list(response = mom ~ mkt + p0 + p1, mkt~1), data = regvar,
nstates = 2,
family = list(gaussian(), gaussian()),instart = delta, trstart=Pi)
It seems that depmixS4 doesnt output the covariance estimates

How Can I Increase Session Setup Timeout Period - Help!!
I posted the message below, some time ago, and haven't got any suggestions
yet. I would be most grateful if anyone could tell me how I can increase the
timeout period for setting up NETBIOS Sessions for smbclient, as this would
perhaps solve the problem. By the way, there is no problem when printing from
any Windows machine.

Migrating to Samba File Server- WERR_ACCESS_DENIED, Access Denied

I want to replace my Windows 2000 file server with Redhat Enterprise 4. I
have configured SAMBA as a domain member file server. It works without any
problem. When I try to copy files/folder from Windows file server to Redhat
server via the ways below, I prompt "access denied" message.
At linux:
net rpc migrate share ...

Editing file changes its owner (Samba 3.0.7).
Hello !!
When a user edits a file belonging to another user and then saves the
file he becomes the owner of that file. Both users belong to the same
group and the file can be read or written to by the group members.
Server: Red hat 9, kernel 2.4.20-31.9, Samba 3.0.7, unix extensions
enabled
Client: Red hat 9, kernel 2.4.20-31.9, shares mounted via smbfs or cifs
(the same behaviour).
