ZFS snv_b39 and S10U2
Hello zfs-discuss,
Just to be sure - if I create ZFS filesystems on snv_39 and then
later I would want just to import that pool on S10U2 - can I safely
assume it will just work (I mean nothing new to on-disk format was
added or changed in last few snv releases which is not going to be
in u2)?
I want to put right now (I have to do it now) some data on ZFS and
later I want to

Solaris 10 11/06
Now that Solaris 10 11/06 is available, I wanted to post the complete list of ZFS features and bug fixes that were included in that release. I''m also including the necessary patches for anyone wanting to get all the ZFS features and fixes via patches (NOTE: later patch revision may already be available):

ZFS checksum error detection
Hi all.
A quick question about the checksum error detection routines in ZFS.
Surely ZFS can decide about checksum errors in a redundant environment but
what about an non-redundant one? We connected a single RAID5 array to a
v440 as a NFS server and while doing backups and the like we see the
"zpool status -v" checksum error counters increment once in a while.
Nevertheless the

how lm behaves
I was wondering if somebody could explain why I get different results here:
>treats[,2]<-as.factor(treats[,2])
>treats[,5]<-as.factor(treats[,5])
>treats[,4]<-as.factor(treats[,4])
#there are 'c' on more days than I have 'h2o2', where treats[,4] is the day. I only want 'c' that correspond to the same days that I have a 'h2o2' also.

Occasional storm of xcalls on segkmem_zio_free
So I have this dual 16-core Opteron Dell R715 with 128G of RAM attached
to a SuperMicro disk enclosure with 45 2TB Toshiba SAS drives (via two
LSI 9200 controllers and MPxIO) running OpenIndiana 151a4 and I''m
occasionally seeing a storm of xcalls on one of the 32 VCPUs (>100000
xcalls a second). The machine is pretty much idle, only receiving a
bunch of multicast video streams and

zfs/raid configuration question for an application
Hi all,
I am going to have solaris 06/06, a database (postgresql), application server (tomcat or sun app. server) on x86, 2GB with max. 3 scsi (hardware raid possible) disks. There will be no e-mail or file serving.
The ratio of write/read operations to database is >=2 (and there is no other significant disk io). Block size of postgresql is default (I think it is 8K). Our application

Bug in as.character? (PR#14206)
A long formula which is converted using as.character, looses its last
part: ``diagonal = 1e-12)''
Shorter formula is ok though.
Best,

[LLVMdev] omission: clang-cc -MD -MF -c -fPIC
Hi,
I do not really have much direct control over the compile lines any more.
I guess I could code up a wrapper for your wrapper so that the libtool wrapper
would be happy, but could you all consider libtool built projects and
embed the necessary option stripping in your clang-cc thing?
Thank you.

reshaping the data
Dear all,
I would appreciate please a piece of help regarding the use of acast/dcast
functions in reshape2 package.
Specifically, I'm working with a data frame, that has information about

system unresponsive after issuing a zpool attach
Today I attempted to upgrade to S10_U2 and migrate some mirrored UFS SVM
partitions to ZFS.
I used Live Upgrade to migrate from U1 to U2 and that went without a
hitch on my SunBlade 2000. And the initial conversion of one side of the
UFS mirrors to a ZFS pool and subsequent data migration went fine.
However, when I attempted to attach the second side mirrors as a mirror
of the ZFS pool, all

iscsi target problems on snv_97
I''ve recently upgraded my x4500 to Nevada build 97, and am having problems with the iscsi target.
Background: this box is used to serve NFS underlying a VMware ESX environment (zfs filesystem-type datasets) and presents iSCSI targets (zfs zvol datasets) for a Windows host and to act as zoneroots for Solaris 10 hosts. For optimal random-read performance, I''ve configured a single

iostat and monitoring
Hi gurus,
I like zpool iostat and I like system monitoring, so I setup a script
within sma to let me get the zpool iostat figures through snmp.
The problem is that as zpool iostat is only run once for each snmp
query, it always reports a static set of figures, like so:
root at exodus:snmp # zpool iostat -v

Monitoring my disk activity
Recently, I''m benchmarking all kinds of stuff on my systems. And one
question I can''t intelligently answer is what blocksize I should use in
these tests.
I assume there is something which monitors present disk activity, that I
could run on my production servers, to give me some statistics of the block
sizes that the users are actually performing on the production server.

ZFS memory and swap usage
Greetings, all.
Does anyone have a good whitepaper or three on how ZFS uses memory and swap? I did some Googling, but found nothing that was useful.
The reason I ask is that we have a small issue with some of our DBA''s. We have a server with 16GB of memory, and they are looking at moving over databases to it from a smaller system. The catch is that they are moving to 10g. Oracle

My experience using -DLLVM_BUILD_INSTRUMENTED_COVERAGE to generate coverage
With llc, the size of the names section can vary widely depending on the value of -DLLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD.
Enabling coverage shouldn't increase the name section size much. I only see one place where this happens, and it's relatively cold:

Attempt of virt-install at Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Dom0
Original Dom0 setup had been done per Todd Deshane''s
instruction:-

Functionality of SNV89 PV and HVM DomUs tested fine as well as F8 and WinXP HVM guests. Once again, all done as advised at http://deshantm.livejournal.com/29959.html

Any news on ZFS bug 6535172?
We''re running a Cyrus IMAP server on a T2000 under Solaris 10 with
about 1 TB of mailboxes on ZFS filesystems. Recently, when under
load, we''ve had incidents where IMAP operations became very slow. The
general symptoms are that the number of imapd, pop3d, and lmtpd
processes increases, the CPU load average increases, but the ZFS I/O
bandwidth decreases. At the same time, ZFS
