Qs. on fbt::copystr: probe
Hi all, I have questions about something I observed just now: 1) on AMD64, S10u1: # dtrace -n ''fbt::copystr:entry{printf ("%p\n", args[0]);}'' -c /bin/pwd dtrace: invalid probe specifier fbt::copystr:entry{printf ("%p\n", args[0]);}: in action list: index 0 is out of range for fbt::copystr:entry args[ ] but # dtrace -n ''fbt::copystr:entry{printf

dtrace on a kernel module _init()
I''m looking for an easy way to use dtrace on _init() for a kernel module but hitting some roadblocks. This doesn''t work: ::xxx:_init { self->follow=1; } :::_fini { self->follow=0; } Because there''s no "xxx" when dtrace runs. The best way I can see is to use fbt:modinstall:entry, tell dtrace about the modctl struct and match by the name

Using ZFS for replication
Fairly new to ZFS. I am looking to replicate data between two thumper boxes. Found quite a few articles about using zfs incremental snapshot send/receive. Just a cheeky question to see if anyone has anything working in a live environment and are happy to share the scripts, save me reinventing the wheel. thanks in advance. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Why does disable loading of zfs module in boot causes
Hello, I tried to disable loading of the zfs module by adding "exclude zfs" in /etc/system. I rebooted and got into "maintainance mode" with many services disbaled (as svcs -xv shows). I don''t have any zfs partitons on this machine. So my question is: for what is the zfs module in booting of solaris ? Why can''t it be disabled? Regards, David This message

Compiling issue on x86!
Hi thanks for your posts so far. Since what I had assumed was a 32 bit kernel which I compiled didn''t work, I religiously set out on compiling a 64 bit version as my system is currently booted in 64 bit mode. I installed SUNStudio12 on the system and set the SPRO_VROOT to point towards it and when I do a make all in usr/src directory, I get the following error when make cwds and runs in

Ways to speed up ''zpool import''?
We''re planning to build a ZFS-based Solaris NFS fileserver environment with the backend storage being iSCSI-based, in part because of the possibilities for failover. In exploring things in our test environment, I have noticed that ''zpool import'' takes a fairly long time; about 35 to 45 seconds per pool. A pool import time this slow obviously has implications for how fast

Help! problems with Arcserve. Can someone decrypt the logs ?
Hi everyone, We use samba 2.0.4 and are very glad of it. However, recently I had to add a backup facility on our network, so we plan to purchase Arcserve IT for NT, in order to backup our servers. We are using mainly 3 Linux servers and 1 NT server, which runs the backup service. However, as Itried to add a simple share on the file server to enable backup, later I encounter problems with

fun.aggregate=mean in reshape
Hi all, We are facing a problem while introducing ourselves to Reshape package use. Melt seems to work fine, but cast fails when we use mean as fun.aggregate. As you see here, length and sum work fine, but mean throws this same error whatever dataset we use. > cast(aqm, month ~ variable, length) month ozone solar.r wind temp 1 5 26 27 31 31 2 6 9 30 30

survey package question
Hello, I have got a cluster sample using an election dataset where I already had the final results of a county-specific election. I am trying to figure out what would be the best sampling design for my data. The structure of the dataset is: 1) polling station (in general schools where people vote, for a county, for example, there are 15 polling stations) 2) inside each polling station, there
