disk space issues...any help is greatly appreciated
Hi all, Please pardon my newbie-ness on this issue....I've a / partition which is full (quite suddenly, actually) and I'm not sure how to fix this. I've searched for uneeded logs, etc in /var/log and /tmp to no avail. The system is CentOS 5.2 and is not connected to the internet, serves as a local LAN server running stock stuff...sendmail, dovecot, apache..nothing strange or

understanding zfs/thunoer "bottlenecks"?
Currently I''m trying to figure out the best zfs layout for a thumper wrt. to read AND write performance. I did some simple mkfile 512G tests and found out, that per average ~ 500 MB/s seems to be the maximum on can reach (tried initial default setup, all 46 HDDs as R0, etc.). According to http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/ArchitectureWP_062806.pdf I would

Extremely slow zpool scrub performance
Running a zpool scrub on our production pool is showing a scrub rate of about 400K/s. (When this pool was first set up we saw rates in the MB/s range during a scrub). Both zpool iostat and an iostat -Xn show lots of idle disk times, no above average service times, no abnormally high busy percentages. Load on the box is .59. 8 x 3GHz, 32GB ram, 96 spindles arranged into raidz zdevs on OI 147.

large file storing in postgres sucks?
Hi, I''m not sure if this is a postgres issue or not, but I''m using Postgres 8.1. I have (in my functional tests) the following code: upload = fixture_file_upload(''/files/podcast.mp3'', ''audio/mpeg'') post :create, :product => valid_product, :media => { :image => upload } And then in the controller: blob = Blob.create :data

nevada_41 and zfs disk partition
I just installed build 41 of Nevada on a SunBlade 1500 with 2GB of ram. I wanted to check out zfs since the delay of S10U2 I really could not wait any longer :) I installed it on my system and created a zpool out of an approximately 40GB disk slice. I then wanted to build a version of thunderbird that contains a local patch that we like. So I download the source tar ball. I try to untar it on the

How to debug: Cons memory exhausted
Hello, I get an error when binary structures from a pipe 'Error: cons memory exhausted (limit reached?)' (but R does not crash) This is probably due to some bug in my code, but occurs after reading about 85K pairs of RAWSXP objects (each < 20 bytes). I do not have any explicit calls to malloc/calloc I'm going through my code and have inserted the (brute force) printf statements

Assistance with doveadm backup...
Not really. The suggestions in the post seemed to be: 1. Tar the whole directory, which I have tried in the past, but a 130G directory takes over 18 hours to tar. 2. It was also suggested to rsync the directory, but the question was brought up, and not answered, about whether it was advisable to copy live mail, thus the need for doveadm sync/backup. Based on what I?ve read about doveadm backup,

--max-vsize
Hi, In both R 2.13 and the SVN trunk, I observe odd behaviour with the --max-vsize command-line argument: 1. passing a largeish value (about 260M or greater) makes mem.limits() report NA for the vsize limit; gc() continues to report a value... 2. ...but that value (and the actual limit) is wrong by a factor of 8. I attach a patch for issue 2, lightly tested. I believe that fixing issue 1

windows xp slow directory listing
Dear All, I could not find a site to search for the mailing list archives. If my question is already asked, sorry for the inconvenience, but please provide me some link(s) for solving it. I have a FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT server. Samba 2.2.8 is installed and running on it. I have no problems with Windows 98 machines in the LAN. My only problem is with Windows 2000, Windows XP machines. disk partitioning - I'm missing something simple, I think
Hi all, Excuse the question as I'm sure those more experienced will find it simple. I've a CentOS5.1 box with six physical drives, two of which are used for nightly rsync backups. Contents of /etc/mtab, /etc/fstab, df and a brief narrative follow: ====================================================== # cat ./fstab /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults

Gluster volume not mounted
Good morning Gluster users, I'm very new to the Gluster file system. My apologies if this is not the correct way to seek assistance. However, I would appreciate some insight into understanding the issue I have. I have three nodes running two volumes, engine and data. The third node is the arbiter on both volumes. Both volumes were operation fine but one of the volumes, data, no longer
