How to run cloud image for 6.5?
Hi,
On my way to run centOS 6.5 on OpenStack I found the cloud images at
http://cloud.centos.org/centos/6.5/devel/
and while the corresponding image for centOS 7 seems to work fine, I
still need the older version for some legacy application, but I cannot
find a way to run the images provided in that directory.
Especially I'm looking at

google cloud compute with PEM file
Hi all,
I am using the google cloud compute engine and we have a client
that does not want to share their ssh keys. So I have been attempting to
set up a PEM file for ssh access. Both the local server I used for
testing and the cloud vm are centos 6.
I created a user on the cloud box, ran "ssh-keygen -t rsa" and took the
defaults. I then copied the id_rsa.pub file to the local

[nbdkit python]: unable to locate modules
I'm working on a python plugin for nbdkit that treats Google Cloud
Storage as a block device. I have a library, gcs.py, that implements
simple commands: list, get, put, delete; source is here:

When I attempt to run nbdkit I get the following error:

Nested Virtualization on Google Cloud.
I am using nested virtualization on a Google Cloud Compute instance. Things
are generally working fine with libvirt using qemu+kvm, however I observed
that <cpu mode='host-model'> is not exposing avx and avx2 instruction set
to the guest Linux instance. Google Cloud platform claims the CPU model of
the host compute instance is Broadwell, however libvirt capabilities maps

no problem, host your own nextcloud and get the nextcloud app;
also no need of having the contacts and/or calendar at google ...
and the most important: you can

OT: android phone backup NOT to google cloud question
Dear All,
My apologies for OT question.
I wonder if someone of Android smartphone owners backs up their device
and user/application data NOT to google cloud.
I just had to get new smartphone, and discovered that short of rooting
device or unlocking bootloader and flashing one of "un-googled" android
builds I can not find the way to back up everything. To my storage, NOT

[fdo] Postmortem: July 17th GitLab outage
Hi,
On Tues Jul 17th, we had a full GitLab outage from 14:00 to 18:00 UTC,
whilst attempting to upgrade the underlying storage. This was a
semi-planned outage, which we'd hoped would last for approximately
30min.
During the outage, the GitLab web UI and API, as well as HTTPS git
clones through https://gitlab.freedesktop.org, were completely
unavailable, giving connection timeout errors.

[LLVMdev] [LNT] running LNT in 'the cloud'
On a few occasions, Daniel has mentioned running a LNT instances from a PaaS cloud. A while back I decided to see if that is possible. I am happy to report it is.
In r210134 I made the necessary changes to allow LNT to run on the Heroku PaaS cloud.
https://www.heroku.com
The commit is all configuration changes to instruct the cloud on how to run the app. I have a live instance of LNT here:

(1) I would change the port from 22 to something more difficult to
guess, perhaps 49026 (for example) and then block port 22 in the
firewall.
(2) Allow to port 49026 (for example) traffic from your IP and block
traffic from all other IPs.
Do not forget there are people out

SIP-T Support (I got my head in an SS7 cloud)
Hey All,
I'm just daydreaming here.. but what's the status of SIP-T in Asterisk?
I haven't been able to find a whole lot of info on SIP-T but seems like
just an extension of SIP. Right?
Now if I had a PSTN Gateway (that is a SS7 gateway) that supported
SIP-T, could I signal * with SIP-T from it and have asterisk utilize
MGCP to sieze a particular DS0 on a remote DS1? Hmm.. What am
