R-4.3 version list.files function could not work correctly in chinese
Dear Yihui, Thanks a lot for your help! Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce this. I've tried creating files with Chinese characters in their names and populating them with valid UTF-8 and valid non-UTF-8 text, but R seems to be able to list them all in my case. I'm running a US English evaluation ISO image of a slightly newer build of Windows 10, and I also compiled R-4.3.1 from

R-4.3 version list.files function could not work correctly in chinese
Yes, I participated in the discussion. Basically dir() failed to list all files since R 4.3.0 when filenames start with Chinese characters. I don't have a Windows machine to test it, but this might be a minimal reproducible example: file.create("????.R") dir() The OP said dir() would return "????.R" in R.4.2.2 but not in R 4.3.0. Bug in NetSessionEnum implementation ?
Hi Everybody, It seems that there is a bug in the implementation of the MS Windows API function NetSessionEnum. I am using Windows XP against a Samba 3.023d domain controller. When NetSessionEnum is successful it is supposed to return either NERR_Success (0) when it is finished or ERROR_MORE_DATA when there is more data outstanding. In my program which tries to retrieve all currently logged-on

Printer queue problem (LPRng 3.4.2, Samba 1.9.18p4, Solaris 2.5.1/2.6)
I've been having a problem with Win95 clients watching a printer queue on the Samba server (called labserv2). labserv2 is a Solaris 2.5.1 machine running samba 1.9.18p4. The printing system is LPRng 3.4.2. A user can watch the printer queue from a Win95 client machine. However, when the printer queue gets backed up (usually about 12 jobs), the queue window locks. The corresponding smbd

Prototyping the Dir class
Hi all, I''ve been prototyping a Windows-only Dir class for Ruby. Below is what I''ve got so far. The class methods were easy, except for Dir.glob. The code in dir.c is just nasty, and I can''t help but think that it could be heavily refactored. I did come across this link: http://www.codeproject.com/file/fileglob.asp But I haven''t investigated it yet. Anyone

stepAICc
Dear R users, Would it be difficult to change the code of stepAIC (from the MASS library) to use AICc instead of AIC? It would be great to know of someone has tried this already. Best wishes Christoph.

Taking a stab at a pure Ruby Dir.glob
Hi all, Here''s what I''ve come up with so far for a pure Ruby Dir.glob for MS Windows. It almost works. The problem right now is the [] notation, which I''m not translating properly into a regex. I haven''t started on the ''**'' notation yet either, but I figure that''s more of a control flow issue. Feel free to disagree with me and/or

OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3, several weird terminal problems
I compiled OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3 (or at least "uname -a"'s output of 4.0.3.0 suggests v4.3, I'm not positive). I was able to compile zlib (1.1.4) and openssl (0.9.7a) with little trouble. OpenSSH took hand-hacking the includes.h file as follows: diff -cr openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h openssh-3.6.1p1-customized/includes.h *** openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h Sun Oct 20
