B62 AHCI and ZFS
Hardware Supermicro X7DAE (AHCI BIOS) dual Intel Woodcrest processors, 6 x Western Digital Raptor SATA drives. I have installed b62 running 64 bit succesfully on a PATA drive. The BIOS is configured to access the SATA drives in native mode using hte AHCI Bios. I have 6 SATA II drives accessed via the Solaris AHCI driver. I have created a ZFS file system across all 6 drives. This works fine until

CentOS 5.3 SuperMicro x7sbi AHCI
Greetings, Wondering if anyone could assist with this. I have many SuperMicro 5015B-MTB servers. These all have the X7SBi Motherboards. After upgrading to CentOS 5.3 the Hard Drive LED's on some of the servers started blinking red(drive fail) but all is functioning normally. All servers are running raid 1 arrays with MDADM. Primary drive does not blink, but all others do including spares.

AHCI at boot?
I'm having trouble getting a Centos installation to boot on a system with hdd's hanging off an AHCI hba. Long ago, I posted about only seeing four of the six sata ports on my asus server board. According to research I've done since then (I now need the ports!), the solution is to enable the AHCI bios, which turns on NCQ and the last two ports. The already installed system does not

sata AHCI controllers (real and virtual)
I saw something somewhere about AHCI support requiring kernel 2.6.19 or later. But the current CentOS/RHEL stable kernels are 2.6.18 I'm trying to run CentOS/RHEL in a VirtualBox vm, which by default creates sata virtual disks with an AHCI virtual controller. These virtual machines are quite unstable, and I'm wondering if the AHCI virtual controller is the problem. I do have a real

C5: prevent loading of AHCI in favor of "fakeraid" megaide
Hi, I'm trying to install an old fujitsu siemens econel 50 server. It uses an Intel chipset with ICH6R sata subsystem known as fakeraid. I have configured a Raid 1 with two 160GB hds. FS and Intel both provide a driver called megaide on a driver disk to use fakeraid and here is the problem: - The readme tells me to install with the "nostorage" kernel option and I can load the

AHCI support in CentOS 5.2?
My friend has an external sata hard disk, and likes the hot-plug feature. However, that works only if the appropriate sata setting in the motherboard bios is set to AHCI (IDE compatibility and RAID are two other options, but hot-plugging doesn't work with them). The machine has WinXP atm, while Linux is about to be installed in the following couple of days. Now, on wikipedia I read that

SATA DVD Burner / AHCI / CentOS 4.7 (kernel: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL)
OK, it seems that the kernel I have (stock CentOS 4.7: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL i686) seems to gronk the nVideo SATA controller in AHCI mode. It is NOT able to deal with the SATA DVD Burner I have. It is a "Sony Optiarc DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model AD-7241S-0B LightScribe Support". Is there some special magic I need to do? Here is the relevant bit from the boot up (SATA ports

Centos 5.3, no AHCI on HP DL320 G5p?
I have one HP Proliant DL320 G5p, where for some reason, the AHCI mode is not enabled. According to server specs, it should have AHCI/NCQ capability, but ata_piix module gets loaded during bootup, not ahci module. Any ideas how to enable AHCI mode? lspci output: # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 3200/3210 Chipset DRAM Controller (rev 01) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation

AHCI and correct drive geometry?
Hey folks, So what's the word on AHCI and bios drive geometry? I'm having a real pain of a time trying to get some 750gb sata drives running on my FreeBSD7 box in AHCI mode. It doesn't seem to matter what disk geometry I suggest to sysinstall, something complains of an invalid disk upon booting it. Actually, in AHCI mode the bios screen doesn't report any information on

problem with installing centos 5.3 on sata ahci
Hello, I am trying to install Centos on sata ahci. The installer first waits few minutes while loading ahci module. Then, the installer cannot detect any disk during the partitioning phase. What might be the problem? I have switched to IDE in bios and it still is the same. Best regards, mjb

AHCI and VT-d related problem
Hello, I have an issue with my XEN system. I suspect that it might be a bug, but I''m no linux expert, so I don''t know. Here is my problem: I have an ASUS P7P55D-E Premium motherboard, and a Western Digital Caviar Black SATA-III 1TB hdd. I am trying to use AHCI. The dom0 is an Arch Linux. The dom0 boots fine until Intel VT-d is enabled in the BIOS. When I enable it Arch

Question about the ahci kernel module: missing in the CentOS (4) Plus kernel
Is there some reason the ahci kernel module is *missing* from the 2.6.9-89.0.16.plus.c4 kernel? It is in the standard 2.6.9-89.0.16.EL kernel. Is this due to an oversight or is there some sort of conflict? I wanted to add IEEE1394 support to my system running CentOS 4.8. I *looks* like what I need to do is download the kernel SRPM and patch the config to include the IEEE1394 modules and

Crash when doing rm -rf
Not an really good subject, I know but that''s kind of what happend. I''m trying to build an backup-solution server, Windows users using OSCAR (which uses rsync) to sync their files to an folder and when complete takes a snapshot. It has worked before but then I turned on the -R switch to rsync and when I then removed the folder with rm -rf it crashed. I didn''t save what
