samba ad errors in log
I'm seeing a lot of these errors from a Samba 4.13.0 DC running on Debian Buster, the smb.conf is untouched from that which was created via a classic upgrade. =============================== Oct 24 10:25:43 srvr01 samba[26688]: [2020/10/24 10:25:43.886363, 0] ../../lib/util/util_runcmd.c:352(samba_runcmd_io_handler) Oct 24 10:25:43 srvr01 samba[26688]: /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate:

Van Belle Packages & Samba 4.15
Previously, I needed to downgrade Louis samba packages to Buster's defaults, which would then be upgraded to 4.13 by the dist-upgrade to Bullseye. This was on a Domain Member, so didn't touch my DC's or have to worry about DB format stepping (I hope). apt install samba=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 python-samba samba-common=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 samba-common-bin=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3

Samba Sysvol and GPO Issues
Hi Samba Team! It's me again I'm having some issues with gpo's and sysvol access. I've installed samba 4.12.7. using idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 When I tried to create a gpo using the rsat tools I got a Permission Denied error. Among other things, I have run: samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset Also I added to smb.conf acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes in sysvol and netlogon sections. I

Is "vfs objects = acl_tdb" allowed?
Hi, I had issues using"vfs objects = acl_xattr" (possibly too old version [Version 4.13.13-Debian] for the needed "acl_xattr:security_acl_name = user.samba" option needed if running in a non-priv container). So I tried "vfs objects = acl_tdb" and found it working. In https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/File_System_Support I found: File systems without xattr support

Changes in share permissions lead to disruption of service
I just had something very strange happening, I'm curious if someone can understand what it was in spite of the limited available information. I'm running Samba 4.11.6 as an AD file server. Rowland checked my config recently and could not find any issue with it, it's really very standard, using the idmap backend. Only 2 users in the AD. Linux access is not a topic, the shares are only

Delegation of control failure for any built-in Security Principals
Hi team. I am trying to allocate some rights to users in Active Directory, by using the "Delegation of Control Wizard" from ADUC. The steps I'm following were executed under the domain administrator user and are the following: 1. open ADUC and right click the top level OU (Ex. domain.org) 2. from the pop-up menu, select ?Delegate Control?? 3. click next in the first page of the

Van Belle Packages & Samba 4.15
I ran an 'apt-get update' and a 'apt-get upgrade' samba with the packages referencing Van Belle site for debian bister samba 415. After everything was upgraded, samba is still reporting version 4.15.5 instead of the latest 4.15.13. Did I miss something about changes needed to the source lists due to changes at the Van Belle site? Thanks
