Hello, I am trying to escape words for searching i.e., "hello". The key here is that the two L''s on "hello" are actually vertical bars. Is there a special function in Ferret or anywhere for that matter that will do the escaping of the Ferret special characters? Thanks in advance, Benjamin

indexing tuples (example: "frog" => 123) as opposed to words
Hi, I need to map words in a document back to there original word id''s in my database. For example, if I had the sentence "I eat food" and I was searching for "food" I would obviously get the document back as a result. For my particular problem I need to not only get the document id but also the id of the match. Suppose my original sentence was actually

Term frequency doesn''t decrement after document is deleted.
Hey all, The frequency count returned by my ferret reader doesn''t decrement after I remove a documents with those terms. Using the example from http://ferret.davebalmain.com/api/classes/Ferret/Index/TermEnum.html the frequency increments after a document is added but stays the same after a document is deleted. index.reader.terms(:tags).each do |term, freq| "#{term} appears

RSpec-Rails bug with to_xml?
Hello, everyone. I''ve been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post. I think I''ve run into a RSpec bug in a Rails project I''m working on. I was working on a few REST controllers, and started getting failures on a specific spec that verified whether a certain action returned XML output. I spent quite a lot of time checking my code to see if it was something I

[RFC] Porting MachinePipeliner to AArch64+SVE
Hi, I am extending LLVM for HPC applications. As one of them, I am trying to make MachinePipeliner available on AArch64 + Scalable Vector Extension environment. MachinePipeliner is currently used only by Hexagon CPU. Since it is a very portable implementation, I think that it will actually work just by adding a little code for many CPUs(See Code [2]). Acts_as_ferret: Slow ferret_update with associated models
Hi, I am using some custom fields for ferret indexing to include fields from associated models. When those child models are updated, I do ferret_update on the parent model. Unfortunately, that takes very long, depending on the number of associated child models. That is because every child model is called to re-index the parent, instead of just the changed one. What can I do to speed up
