SMB Direct support?
Hello all, I was reading up on SMB Direct support and it seems very interesting. I looked through slides of a presentation by Stefan Metzmacher about SMB Direct last year: https://www.samba.org/~metze/presentations/2018/SDC/StefanMetzmacher_SDC2018-SMB-Direct-Status-rev1-presentation.pdf I was wondering what the current support of of SMB Direct for Samba. I have a Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

NFS Hanging Under Heavy Load
Hello all, I'm currently experiencing an issue with an NFS server I've built (a Dell R710 with a Dell PERC H800/LSI 2108 and four external disk trays). It's a backup target for Solaris 10, CentOS 5.5 and CentOS 6.2 servers that mount it's data volume via NFS. It has two 10gig NICs set up in a layer2+3 bond for one network, and two more 10gig NICs set up in the same way in another

Solarflare SFC9000 direct connection
hi guys I wonder if any of you might be using SFN6122F-R7 SFP+ (SFC9000, same firmware everywhere, Centos 7.5 too. I'm trying poor man's setup to get the servers onto 10GbE network. Setup is such that three Dell R815 are connected to each other, each has one Solarflare(SFP ports) and each Solarflare is set as net-team(both ports on a card are net-team device) with runner in broadcast

Migration of files with Windows ACL's to Samba server
Hi there, It might that this question was already answered but I can't really find any proper documentation for this. I am in a process of migrating about 70T of files from our Win2016 storage server to a Samba (2:4.17.9+dfsg-0+deb12u3) server. Whilst doing this I want to preserve all the ACL's which were set on Windows shares. Is there any related documentation around this topic how to

ixgbe: device missing when SPF+ isn't inserted? ixN: Hardware Initialization Failure
Hi list, can somebody fix the bug that the device ixN is missing when the cable mainly the SFP+ module isn't inserted during boot?! Today I connected a new server to our storage system which has 3 ixgbe cards so 6 ports and is freebsd 9 based. Then I have noticed that the link is missing and the free ports were missing from ifconfig. Checking the dmesg revealed the problem. ixN: Hardware

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Hi all, I have promised to do some testing and I finally find some time and infrastructure. So I have 3 servers with Gluster 3.10.5 on CentOS 7. I created replicated volume with arbiter (2+1) and VM on KVM (via Openstack) with disk accessible through gfapi. Volume group is set to virt (gluster volume set gv_openstack_1 virt). VM runs current (all packages updated) Ubuntu Xenial. I set up

EFI Clients Unable to Load kernel/initrd Not Stored on PXE Server
Issue Statement: PXE booting from BIOS systems works fine on both 6.03 and 6.04-pre1. New clients only support (u)EFI which results in the inability to load remote kernel or initrd. Tested with both Syslinux 6.03 and 6.04-pre1. So far unable to boot any (u)EFI clients unless both initrd and kernel are on PXE server. Using packet captures I see that the URI request for the remote file on the repo

Mh, I never had to do that and I never had that problem. Is that an arbiter specific thing ? With replica 3 it just works.
